The amount of wood that woodchucks would chuck on a given day varies greatly with the individual woodchuck. According to a Wall Street Journal article, New York State wildlife expert Richard Thomas found that a woodchuck could chuck around 35 cubic feet of dirt in the course of digging a burrow. Thomas reasoned that if a woodchuck could chuck wood, he would chuck an amount equal to 700 pounds.
Some say it depends on three factors:
The woodchuck's desire to chuck said wood.
The woodchuck's need to chuck the aforementioned wood.
The woodchuck's ability to chuck the wood when it is a woodchuck

To get the conversation rolling, after I'm finished with my current project I'm thinking about either setting up a store or doing some affiliate marketing stuff for easy $$... How about sharing some of your experiences with setting up a store and affiliate marketing? What you'd recommend and not recommend, etc. Thanks!

Hey I just saw what you did for tidytax. Wow! Very Impressive. I have just ventured into the world of creating a website with a programmer (either of us with design skills) but I have an extremely limited budget.

My site has been live for 2 days ( I have received some positive feedback on ease of the site) but I have yet to convert to new listings. ( It is a real estate website, I need listings!)

    Any advice would be appreciated

Full background with e-commerce, bunch of experience with affiliate marketing in the physical product space.

The question comes down to time and control. How much time to you have to work on the project, and also run it? Those two things are very different in terms of time commitment. Also what type of affiliate marketing are you planning on doing? It's a broad term, some of it (ppv, cpa) I have little experience with. And some i have quite a bit of experience with.

I feel like I have seen this site before. First off... great domain. Can you give me some background on what the site is for, a run down of what each type of customer would be coming to the site to do, and the areas you are having trouble with. I can break some things down for you if you are willing to make some changes.

Sorry Lighthouse~I was looking at another post from thebiz when I stumbled across your offer for advice.

    First my background
I was a real estate investor/wholesaler that brought together motivated sellers and investors. I would do all the the research on the property. Title, liens, comps ect. and get the property under contract and sell to an investor.

After my second child and my husbands illness I was no longer able to drive around and meet the sellers and investors, but that didn't stop them from calling. So I was determined to find a way to bring sellers and buyers of distressed property together and recreated my investing business Housewise to housewise.com. It just broke my heart to not be able to help the people in trouble that would call our company. I tried to find a way that I could still profit from the lead but decided to go with a free site. No 7 day free trial, no bait and switch just free and hopefully someday get enough traffic and adsense revenue to make a profit.

I was also at one time a Realtor specializing in short sales and investment property so I wanted to invite agents with bank owned property and short sales to list free also. Plus investors/buyers will have access to a larger pool of property.

My site is free to list
and free to search without creating an account (until you want to take action i.e contact a seller or list a property)
My idea is to bring serious investors directly to the sellers and agents. Investors will eventually have access to hundreds of free leads.

The action I want my users to take are:

I want motivated sellers to list property for sale
I want agents to list reo and short sale listings
I want investors to find, buy and profit from properties on our site.
If someone wants something specific to buy like rent to own or certain area they can post a wanted ad.

I intend to blog a few times a week to include more relevant information for people facing foreclosure and relevant real estate news on my blog.

Right now I am working on facebook, linkedin and twitter networking.
My main goal is to attract our user base sellers, agents, investors and get them to convert visits to actual listings.
    Thanks for any advice.

I have actually never made a dollar with clickbank. I am not denying there is tons of money to be made there, in fact I have had a few people give me plans to build a business from CB on the producer side and offer their lists. But i am just not a huge fan of the "IM" e-products arena. Possibly one day when i can get a talented writer I can take those folks up on their offers and launch some products, but I will never be on the affiliate side.

Besides the mass of domains i have idling and the content sites and various things laying out there. I am back fully into e-commerce. I am working on expanding and creating new brands/sites for different industries as well as testing and optimizing my current ones and expanding their product lines. I am also going to start re-marketing the customer bases for each site via email marketing next year after I launch two new brand/sites in the next month or two.

Once I'm finished with my current project I should be able to go full time on the next project(s). Not sure if I want to go the store route or AM next, just kind of thinking out loud at the moment; still need to do the research & due dil.

I know one thing for sure though, my next project I'm going to be selecting a niche with keywords that get over 5,000 exact match searches per month, otherwise it's just not worth it to me to put in the seo work. (lesson learned the hard way )

woah shout out on LightHouse's thread? is it legal for me to respond? I have no development experience or graphic design, i just copy what works..... to be honest i think yours is rough. If you want my advice id start over again.

Do you remember back in the day when all businesses were brick and mortar? Remember you would go into a new restaurant and say WOW.. this place is nice, remember that creepy Persian guy in the corner? He was writing on a notepad and taking pictures, to copy them..... Im not Persian but consider me that guy in the corner. I do not think you should copy anyone but look at placement then go to another site and find a color scheme you like.

Who are you to know what works with no experience, or me, or anyone for that matter.

I just googled "nicest real estate website" here are the first two.

Trulia - Real Estate, Homes for Sale, Sold Properties, Apartments for Rent

Zillow - Real Estate, Homes for Sale, Recent Sales, Apartment Rentals

look at theirs, now look at yours... you need to completely redo it, changing the look is cheap though, not a big deal.

Im always down to get free advice.. lighthouse, you do SEO if i remember or own an e-businesses?

If so, for any service related online business, what is the first thing you do when you launch. Im talking a national company like an insurance service business. Submit articles, seo, ppc, etc?
