After reading the book in April and constantly trying to come up with ideas for fastlane businesses and shooting them down, I have finally decided to act upon one and I would like some feedback (I have thick skin) on whether I should see it through or pivot.

Origin of idea - I am an independent insurance agent and being fairly young I deal with a lot of first time homebuyers. For the most part, these people do not have a clue when it comes to finding the right professionals to make the process easier. The four basic professionals in the homebuying process are the realtors, mortgage broker/bank, insurance professional, and a real estate lawyer for the closing. A lot of realtors don't seem too interested in this demographic for commission reasons as the commission is fairly low for a first time homebuyer home. Same thing for the insurance agent as premiums are not that high on a home that is right around $100,000. Getting a mortgage is the most stressful part and not having the right professional can be a nightmare. Closing costs can be expensive if you don't do your due diligence so finding the right attorney is important as well.

My idea is having a website that will connect first time homebuyers with these professionals then they will be able to rate these professionals based on customer service. I've already started working on the site but after watching MJ's video of taking proper action, I figured I'd ask fellow fastlaners for some help.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

It sounds solid enough. How much reasearch have you put into it? If you haven't really look into it deep then I would consider also just letting a couple days pass to let it stew. What is thebideo you mentioned? I didn't know about it.

How to Take a Fastlane To Success… Instead of No Where.

Thanks for replying! I've been in the insurance industry for 16 months and have asked each first time homebuyer I've written insurance for how the process was and more often than not I hear some complaint about how a certain aspect could have been easier so that is when I started brainstorming this idea..

Great idea! You should definitely go for it.

Few ideas for product...(you should buy "Four Steps to the Epiphany by Steven Blank for market potential research...its worth it):

1. Have you considered having a feature that allowed them to track progress? Checklists make things easy. Taking away the mystery of the steps for consumers and giving them % done, in a progress bar or something, could facilitate completion.

2. I think a decentralized approach that you have is the right one, and gaining initial momentum for the system will be a challenge. An idea for the beginning is to do some research yourself and make deals with professionals and funnel early users to them. You'd make sure your early adopters can have a good experience and you could recruit some quality professionals into the system by giving them the option of extra business and to gain a competitive advantage against other professionals.

Its really no risk to the consumer or the professionals because you're revenue is going to be affiliate commissions, right? Should be a pretty easy sell.
