Default How to find a partner?

    Hello,

Some of you might have come across my other threads regarding my success with Groupon affiliate and marketing method to promote my coaching service of my proved Groupon affiliate method. I recently coached few people and it was successful they managed to earn quit good amount. I'm charging 40% of what they earn in first month. Now I've planed to start my coaching portal site which will make my task easy and more effective.

I'm looking for a partner who can spend some time on it and invest in development of the site as well being 50% owner of the venture. I really need someone as it is getting hard to manage everything all alone.

So what I need is how can I find a partner? Internet is full of scams so is there any kind of service which protects me? something like Escrow but I'm not sure how it can work. Let me know.

You can go the route that I am going to take. I actually got this idea from a thread on this forum. I am posting an ad in my local paper as well as on Craigslist for a webdesigner/IT executive to help me build/maintain my site for a non-controlling equity share in my business. That way they are a part of the success of the business but it is still my business, I haven't given up any control.

There are tons of sites that you can use to find a JV/jointventure partner - Let me google that for you - but your best protection is to publicize the partnership with your partners social network. It's not quite escrow, but you might want to google "business insurance", too.

I should be doing this two but on two projects I work now, both are done on handshake. Sometimes it backfires, sometimes it doesn't. You can get screwed over even when you are in agreement officially and then go try solve it legally (which could take longer than if you are unofficial).

I guess you are better of just starting a company and filing out papers with vesting agreement. Google it for more info but here is a post about it from Mark Suster, you can search that site for more about vesting too, great resource:

Btw, you can start a consulting website for free, no need to pay for development. Maybe you are not pushing it to the limit when it comes to starting sites for as little as you can. Shoot me a PM or write here what your site needs, I'm sure there are solutions

this is exactly my problem right now.

VCs and incubators only care about the team and less so about the idea. the old adage 'bet on the jockey, not the horse' is what they go by. there must be a reason for it and probably summed up best from Y Combinator's FAQ

How do we choose who to fund? The people in your group are what matter most to us. We look for brains, motivation, and a sense of design. Experience is helpful but not critical.

Your idea is important too, but mainly as evidence that you can have good ideas. Most successful startups change their idea substantially.
Can a single person apply for funding?

Yes, but the odds of being accepted are lower. A startup is too much work for one person.
Also, they dislike putting together a team for the sole purpose of executing an idea, because again

I have a great idea for a startup, but I'm not technical. Will you still fund me? Can you help me find programmers to implement my idea?

We'll consider funding you, but your chances are about ten times better if you find yourself a technical cofounder.

It's much better if you find one yourself through friends of friends than if we introduce you to someone. Teams thrown together for the purpose of starting a startup usually fall apart under stress. You need some kind of personal connection.

So finally the conclusion of my post: how the f does one get a team/partner when everyone around the person are either content with a 9-5 paycheck, lack of ambition, afraid of risk (which is 90% of the population). so what is this? if i don't meet the right people I can never make it? so much for these dreams of wealth.
