Content ideas for a domain name - neptuune.com

I own the domain neptuune.com.

Any ideas of what kind of site I could build around this name?

I originally planned to create a site similar to ilike.com or myspace music - recommendations, artist profiles, affiliate selling of songs etc but I do not as yet have the technical skills to develop a site like this as well as believing now that this is an already oversaturated market.

I registered this domain as the word 'neptune' is a globally recognized, easy to vocalize word as well as it containing the word 'tune' - going with the musical site theme.

The original Neptune.com was taken and I was quoted $600,000 dollars for the right to it!

Any ideas as to whether this domain would ever be worth more than the registry fee or has any potential for development as a site/brand name?

Pretty much anything music or water related. It's really open. I mean I could see the word "Neptuune" being branded on anything from a service similar to GrooveShark for the music industry to floaties that kids use on their arms in the swimming pool.

I think you've got a good domain name there.

Now, finding the product / service that fulfills the need in the market is the trickier part.

And maybe you don't even have to do that. Maybe you could approach someone that has already created the product / service and sell the domain name to them.

I agree with Kwemer. I really like the idea of it being a music hot spot. A Place for musicians to go and develop their fan base. If you could some how tie in the record companies it would be perfect. Then the site could be used to showcase raw talent and those alike, allowing members to viewed and possibly discovered. Bring the discovery of music talent away from youtube.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. It would take massive amounts of branding, since it's a relatively subtle misspelling.

And why constrain yourself? Just because you spent $10 on the domain?

Forget the domain. Come up with the very best business idea that you possibly can. In the unlikely event that the domain happens to fit it, great. But why pursue anything less than your best idea, just because you happen to own this domain?

Option are quite endless, but I think at the end of the day you are going to generate a lot of free traffic for Neptune.com

You can possibly just set up a CPA offer and collect typos from people trying to find Neptune.com
