Hi All,
I recently took Gary Vaynerchuk's advice and now own my own .com domain which is just my first and last name. That was the easy part. I now have to get hosting and set it up in a Wordpress style format. I was thinking about starting it off as a blog about myself, just posting random articles that I think would be interesting (i have some articles already written, just need to post them when site is up and running). But there's no uniformity or laser focus on what I want my site to be. I understand the value of having your own .com but I want to be able to eventually monetize it like everyone else instead of feeling I'm just writing for myself. As far as the content goes, I was going to post some articles on things I've written that interest me like getting out of debt, weight lifting, self reliance, and mountain climbing. These are diverse topics, each of which could take up their own unique site. I just think that I need to at least get started and put everything out there for people to read. Then in the future I can channel it into something more specific.
What do you folks think? Can you offer up some suggestions on what content should be placed on such a site? It's going to be my attempt at self-branding and I want to make sure I'm not posting junk and random meaningless thoughts. But at the same time I want to make sure it could lead to becoming an alternative income stream. Any thoughts on self-branding sites like mine?
Thank you,
Joe
