I use RingCentral! Cannot say enough about them. It's so cheap for the huge services they provide 800#s (I paid $30 for a vanity#), Voicemail, virtual PBX... they'll also hook you up with professional voice actors.
I use Connectmevoice. I might have gone with ringcentral but they did not have a local number which is what I was looking for. I also have an 888 number that I got through Kall8 which is a good service.
hmm $30 a month. anything cheaper?
i only need a toll free number because you need one for a merchant account (or that's what has been said on this forum)
^Huh? The basic RingCentral one is $120/year.
One point about a 1-800 number- be sure to answer it!
This weekend I needed to order some of the little red indicator lights for ranges that light up when you turn the burners on. After a long google search I found a site that had them, as well as several more obviously owned by the same person. There was a problem calculating freight so I decided to call on Saturday during their M-S hours. No answer. I tried again a couple of times on Monday, again no answer so I left a message. As of Tuesday night, they have not called back. After a big investment in time, money, and effort to create the sites and presumably stock inventory on their part, they have completely lost me as a potential customer by being unresponsive. I know think that they are either incompetent or scammers looking for credit card numbers.

I decided to test two different services for a couple different businesses I have. Both have proved to be cost effective and reliable. I think alot of it will come down to what you need it to do for you...
1. GoSolo.com
2. GotVMail.com
Good Luck!
We use GotVMail too. You can grow with this one and I believe the cost starts at $9 and something. Based on minutes. Their website can be difficult at first but makes more sense as you learn it.
