Default Credit card expiration date question

This is a question for anyone who takes credit cards in their store whether it be online or in person.

I've recently discovered that my store is letting credit cards get charged through regardless of the expiration date placed on the order. I use authorize.net and when I talked to their support they told me that the credit card vendors are no longer checking expiration dates on credit card orders.

They said that authorize.net is passing the info through to them, but if they don't validate it or come back with an error there's nothing that they can do.

Can anyone else verify this? I tried using VISA with 2 of my ebiz stores and they both passed with wrong expiration dates.

I also use authorize.net and that hasn't worked for me. I found some old orders that had shipped but the customer had not been billed. I tried to charge the card but was denied. I even loosened up the restrictions and I still could not charge the cards. I've emailed and left messages for the customers to try to get their new credit card info but haven't had any luck yet.

Ok it seems like my ebiz store checkout processes are checking expiration dates again. Weird. However, when I use the virtual terminal and manually type in the cc# it doesn't seem to check CC expiration dates.

what e-com are you using OSC checks on your website first and then passes it through, i have no tried on A.NET. Wellsfargo said absolutley do not charge your own CC on your account though, it shows up through themm as high alert/ money laundering.... this is what they told me after i asked if it was ok to charge 5 bucks.

I'm using OSC but when I use Authorize.net's virtual terminal for phone orders, it's not checking the expiration date.

I have been charging my own cards and then voiding the charge right away after they go through. I never let my own charges settle.

Ahh good idea! I have been working on my OSC store for the past 2 weeks night and day, it will be up June 1 and i would like to make a thread then for all things e-commerce. I was unsure if anyone else here had real experience. Maybe we can share some tips and tricks. Its funny because i believe you have 1and 1 as well so we have the exact same set up.
