Default The Death Cycle of the Middle Class

The Dangerous Death Cycle of the Middle Class

“Most men die at 25, we just don’t bury them until they are 70.”
    - Benjamin Franklin

    Think about that quote.

That IS the definition of the middle class.

You’re young, you don’t know what to do. You get a job at the same place where your friend works…you don’t even love it… it’s just good wages, or it’s comfortable or its easy… next thing you know, you get a girlfriend (or boyfriend), you get married, you get a mortgage, you have kids, and now you’re stuck in The Death Cycle of the Middle Class where you are spending the majority of your awake time, the most valuable asset that you’ll ever be gifted with on this planet, you’re spending that doing something you hate. Showing up to a job that you hate, on a commute that you hate, working with people that you hate. That is The Death Cycle.

I don't know if this should be called the Slowlane or the Shitlane.

The Fastlane may come with a hefty price tag, though at the same time, I can't help but think that it's actually the cheapest of all the options.

I agree with you. Most people are mediocre and never wake up. Life is to precious to waste it in a hated job. Let them live this way, it's only when they will approach death that they will realize that they wasted their entire life in the rat race. How disappointing. Fastlaners should have an entire island separate from all the idiots. Lol.

My parents always told me, "Work hard now so you don't have to work as hard later."

That resonated pretty harshly with me. Most people don't work that hard, even though they think they do. It's not just the time trade: it's a combination of bad financial habits and a hitchhiking mindset. They live their lives inefficiently, in a state of neurotic comfort. They have dreams but they buried them after graduation. The idealistic get pummeled by life, the realists try to take the road that they think they can endure the most, and the spoilers take anything they can get, remaining hopeless about their future and wishing the worst on others.

I want to be happy. I want to be free. And I want to pursue the goals that I want to pursue. But that's a privilege only a select few have. I am determined to put in the work to get that privilege and nothing will stop me, except death.

I totally agree with you. It sucks being in the JOB workclass vs, the build business full time group. I know I will be there soon and have been there before for many years. Hail to the RICH life vs Middle Life.

I know people that just seem to exist, not really live. It is sad. I can't imagine blowing my life like that.

Ben's quote is very telling, in any generation, but especially this one. Since the turn of the millenium, I was always a firm believer that it is better to KNOW you are poor or KNOW you are rich. That way, you either know you have to hustle to get it in OR you hustle the means you have to maintain your status. In the middle, you think your safe...there is no "safe" when it comes to money. You either are getting it or you are not and if you are logging into a job, you are logging out of life. Plain and simple.
