I plan on taking my CCNA:Voice by the end of December and then I'm going to move on to the CCNP cousin the CCVP (Cisco Certified Voice Professional). The nice thing about VoIP is that it's still new technology so there is a huge market and need for not only professionals that know it but also businesses that provide it. It's not uncommon for VoIP engineers to make 120-140K that have 5 or so years of experience.
I receive about 3-4 offers a month for VoIP engineer positions and I've only been at it for a year and a half! Also VoIP is a perfect candidate for creating a "managed service" type business around since not much new hardware is needed besides the actual phone and even that can be virtual (similar to an IM client that runs on your PC).
