Thread: Oil and Gas Expositions

Do any of you know much about petroleum shows and trade shows? I am located in the oil and gas heartland of Canada and work in the industry so I receive invitations to everything that goes on.

I have never gotten much out of these shows business wise as I have never been in a decision making position, but they have been interesting on a personal level. I have two invitations right now, one for “Instrumentation, Systems and Automation (ISA)” and another for the “Gas and Oil Expo North American”. The G&O Expo is just huge, with thousands and thousands of square feet of display space, and areas dedicated to technologies from all over the world.

As everyone in the industry is generally given a day to attend these events, do you guys know of any techniques or ways to benefit from them? Maybe specific things to look out for, or techniques to try and bring things to market or talk with presenters.

I am not sure what other events are taking place here this summer, but chances are high there will be others.
