Default How To Get A Website Built For $5

Southbeachgeek will build you a website for $5, only on fiverr.com

This guy will build you a Web site for $5. up to 10 pages. He'll even set up eCommerce for you!

Description: "I will build a website of up to 10 pages for you. Your website will come with customizable text and images that can easily be swapped out with your content through a username and password I will provide you with once your site is delivered. The site I build for you will look clean & professional. You will be able to login and make changes to it's text and images with a simple username and password. You will also be able to add products and accept credit cards through your admin username and password. Features: - up to 10 pages - Image Gallery - Image Slideshow - Video Player - Audio Player - Credit Card Processing - Contact Form - Basic SEO - CMS"

Truth be told, he's selling himself a bit short. However, he offers tipping options and an 'Extra Fast' option in which he delivers it to you in a day. Extra Fast costs $25.

He's based in the US. He's probably a broke college student, like me.

How do you know he's legit? He has a 96% gig rating and over 300 people have ordered from him. Tons of positive reviews.

He probably uses a CMS, like Wordpress. But so what? It doesn't matter! He'll do all of that for $5!!!

Next time you look at spending over $1000 on a custom Web site, ask yourself: Do I really need one? Do I need a proprietary Web application? Am I simply selling a product, access to information, or am I really setting up something that is very uncommon in the Internet nowadays?

Because if it's common, there's a Wordpress plugin for it.

Something tells me fiver.com could make huge money and be a big opportunity to get known doing business. It may sound ridiculous but this guy is probably making some serious cESHH MOONAAY.

Btw, how does fiver profit? Couple of cents to a dollar off of each transaction?

Nice one. I love Fiverr.com. Learning to build websites yourself is also valuable. Without investing time practicing and trying new things, I never would have found what tools worked best, like plugins, etc.

They take 20%. You sell for $5, you take $4.

I do Fiverr gigs myself. The money's OK.

    Testimonials, copy, things like that.

I did some social marketing, too. Decided to stop doing that for a little while. Probably gonna start it again.

Lol... what the description doesn't mention is that you have to buy hosting with him. This way he makes $50 bucks from you. So in essence you are paying $55 for the "service"

Also, I guarantee he uses templates, so this takes him no time at all.

you don't have to, but your site has to be hosted somewhere, and I will bet he gives you a link to sign up to (where he gets $50 commission) saying he has a coupon if you sign up under his link.

He could host it on his own server, but then you have no control over your site. He could just take it down and have access to everything you do.

I am not familiar with Wordpress

Is it possible he could build it on there and you get free hosting?

From the positive remarks people seem very happy and very impressed with what they received.

I am not sure you can expect too much for $5.

You could host it anywhere, even on your own computer if you wanted to, but realistically if someone does not know how to set-up a wordpress site, they probably will not know how to run a server.

He could host it on his own server, but like I said, you would loose control over your whole site. All you would get is your login info, but the data remains on the server. So if this guy one day didn't pay his server bills or something happened... well there goes your whole site.

I am not saying his service is not a good one, because obviously people do not know how to setup a wordpress site. He is filling that need.

My main point is explaining his business model. If you sign-up for hosting you don't pay him $50 (that is his commission), rather the "coupon" he gives you is his affiliate link and the company pays him $50 per lead.

You on the other hand, get hosting for $1 the first month and maybe $7/month the rest of the year (depending on the plan you chose).

He makes $55 by putting together a wordpress site and hosts it on your server. You pay $5 for a site and $7/month for hosting. It's a win win.

Wordpress.COM is self-hosted (free), Wordpress.ORG is open source and requires your own hosting.

    ah ok thanks.

Can you use your own domain name on wordpress.com or would you have wordpress in the URL of your domain?

Yes you can. I've always used .org, but if it's like Tumblr (also a free blogging platform) you can own your own domain by changing the A-records in your DNS.

So you could have this guy make your website on wordpress dom com for $5 Or someone else if he is not willing to do it on Wordpress dot com

You buy a domain name on godaddy for $15 or whatever it is.

And you will have a www dot YourDomainName dot com website with 10 pages right?

And NOT have to pay for any hosting?

    Thanks

    Correct.

Looks like he doesn't use WP though, he uses Google Sites, I've never used it but looks pretty straightforward and basic

Last time I checked google sites were not really useful for anything real.

I'm just setting up a new web site and I went with hostgator. You can configure the site with a few clicks (or find somebody to do it for you).
What's really valuable about wordpress.org cms is that:
    - it's standard, plenty of people know how to modify it to your liking
    - you can get commercial themes on the cheap (or buy a unique one for a bit more)
    - lots of plugins
    - maintenance is a breeze

I'm somewhat tempted to buy a site from this guy just to find out his up-sale strategy, assuming it exists. If he is an affiliate partner and selling web hosting with it, genius. If he is just slinging $5 sites at probably a site an hour (maybe 2 if he has a lot of POs and is crazy fast at copy) than this is a gross undervaluation of time. Let me know if anyone actually gives this guy a try.

.. How to get your site hacked and ruin your reputation for 5 bucks.

All jokes aside, this is a good deal. BUT I would then take the money that you save and invest in security. If its not secure then its not a good deal.
