Since this website is called fast lane what fast cars do you own?

I have a modified dodge SRT 4. I like to go to the track a few times a year. My best time with street tires has been 13.1 @ 112. I should add I am not the best driver.

Also I had it put on a dino, it put out 363 hp to the wheels and 335 tq.

I drove a friends car at the track that impressed me it was a 2011 mustang 5.0, automatic, full tank of 87 octane. I know my friend is cheap with gas. The car is stock an I managed to get 13.2 @ 108 very fast.

I currently own 6 cars. None of them are particularly fast.

However, 4 of them are convertibles (2 mustangs, 2 Karmann Ghias).

The other 2 are SUVs (Excursion, Bronco).

The Excursion has a 10 banger in it. Just clicked over 100,000 miles yesterday.

I gave away my '72 Mercedes 280SE 4.5L a few weeks ago (I wanted it to go to a good home).

I've never been much into fast cars-- for me, it's all about handling-- the twisty bits.

Doing Hwy 1 (southbound) at 120 mph, and taking the corners in my Porsche. That was fun.

And dangerous. I don't do that anymore, now that I have a family. :smxB:

When I fully retire, I'll prolly have at least 1 or 2 classic cars, and a daily driver.

My "fast car" is travel. My wife and I plan to take our kids to different places around the world, and live there for a few months at least-- perhaps even a year or so-- in each place.

Places we've already picked out are France (southern France and Paris), and southern Australia (Barossa Valley).

The fact that both of these spots are wine growing regions is ah . . purely coincidence. :smxB:

We'll prolly also spend some time traveling the US. Perhaps in an RV. Perhaps some other way. Not sure just yet.

I don't even have a license.

However, my mother's fiancee just bought a custom Dodge Charger. Ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. For the money he payed, I'd have bought a corvette, or better yet a porsche.

2003 Toyota Corolla LE - 35mpg highway :smxB:

But in all seriousness, my namesake comes from this:

17478_988771431980_1906447_54906708_4924227_n.jpg

91 3000GT VR4 - basic upgrades, never dyno'd/never track'd(it cost too much just to keep an old car like this running, no point in breaking anything at the track), but most likely was 400hp(crank) and 12.9-13.1 1/4.

And the "other" vehicle... 04 Honda CBR 600F4i, sold this Spring.

I had a 2005 Porsche Carrera 4S for 5 years, but sold it this summer. Realized it was keeping me in the Slowlane :smx4:

Once I make it in the Fastlane, I will go for a Lambo or another Porsche (GT3).

Don't own them now but if you look on my profile you will see my yellow, street legal, small block Malibu that ran 10.80's with a little spray. I was wanting to move into some fastest street car shootout stuff and the little block wouldn't cut it.

Replaced some of the steel with fiberglass and painted it flat primer black. Took over 150 lbs out of the car and added a 468. The engine dynoed at 680 HP at the crank. I had a 400hp, multi stage, nitrous setup on top of it. It was around 1100hp street legal. I drove it a few times. I had no budget for repairs and maintenance. Sold the beast before I got all the bugs worked out.

I kinda lost the bug to go out there and drive fast in a straight line. Now I drive a GMC HD2500 truck.

I'll raise you my Toyota Tacoma.

I think my Corolla is a better match for the Civic, you can take on Lightning's 4Runner ;)

JP66- that was the road I was heading down, thankfully I gave up on the "dream" of a 996 C2 that gets in the way of getting my true dream car... the C-GT in my avatar :)

Although I might get an S2k in the near future just to get over the sports-car withdrawl, but have to make sure I keep it stock as I learned the hard way that mods mean nothing unless you can truly afford them... and by that I mean afford the added cost of decreased mileage, lower re-sale value and of course the added wear and tear from driving harder!

Enzo,

I now have great respect for your patience, and perseverance. Owning more than one old Jag-- AND a Triumph Spitfire?

Are you a mechanic by trade?

Russ,

No I am not a mechanic.
I have small shop with classic car spares.
I have started it to meet interesting people.
But now I want to shift up second gear. I have a problem that I have too many ideas. And I am not sure which one to pick and start the business.
I have to solve this problem. I am thinking to travel for few weeks to clear my head.

What is your business?

WOW!! Thats quite a garage full! I like to take the mild mannered cars like your challenger and juice them up. Surprises some people. I cant believe how much they look like the old ones! Very cool cars!

Ha, I was at the GF's place and passed out. Got home and couldn't sleep so I did a little surfing before I crashed again. I'll load up some pics shortly.

Here's my favorite pic -- and yes, the Viper was faster than the Diablo. Unfortunately, while owning both, the Viper was neglected and rarely driven as you could imagine why.

:iamwithstupid:

Then again, considering you're one of the Lambo Power guys, I'm sure there's plenty of pics already up on those forums ;)

MJ- the Viper is the car that started MY obsession when I was 10, lol, I remember it was the car you could win from the McDonald's Monopoly game and my first thought was "what's so special about a Dodge?", well, after learning more about exotics and becoming a Porsche enthusiast from a family friend whose Fastlane success led to owning quite a few(including a $1m Can-Am Porsche that he topped out at 231mph on the track) I found out that there really was nothing too special about the Viper :p

In fact, my parents made the "mistake" of getting me a book on the history of the Viper when I was a teenager and while the design being based on the legendary Shelby Cobra gives it street cred, the engine, which was essentially a souped up version of the V-10 used in the Ram, which I previously thought was the other way around(the Ram V-10 being a tuned-down version of the Viper engine), not to mention the primitive suspension and braking technology that you only get from a true exotic ;)

Which btw, I was horrified to find out even the NEW Corvette ZR-1 still uses leaf springs for the rear-suspension :smxE:
