What role do students see the government providing?

I'm sorry, I couldn't finish this video.
A couple of things made me absolutely sick. First off, they assumed that all kids think that everything should be free. That's not at all what the kids meant. I mean, yes, some kids do think that way, but definitely not the majority.
Another thing is that they were comparing free healthcare/free tuition with 'free money'. That's not what the kids meant; they meant that all people should have universal access to health care no matter what their social status or medical history is, and frankly, that is something I agree with.
What the kid meant by the 'government should control those who can't think for themselves' is, essentially, put the lazy to work, not give them free stuff so they can live their lazy lives.
Not only this, they villianize the Occupy Wall Street movement by undermining the cause; they say that OWS is about getting free stuff when it is actually about removing Wall Street from today's politics.
I'm sorry to get all personal on this thread and I hope I don't start a debate, but this video made me seriously angry. They just blatantly assume that people my age are incapable of thinking for themselves and that's like a kick in the nuts to me.
How I see it - A portion of those 10% of kids the teacher mentioned (the ones that wanted government to leave them alone, not tax them too much, and let them regulate their own lives) will be the entrepreneurs of the future. Most of the other 90% will be working for those 10%.
In my opinion, the great majority of kids that go through the public school systems get brainwashed with only one side of the picture, but once they get out of school and start paying attention to how things really work and what influences politics have in those things, that's when they truly begin to learn.
Yep, they truly are the only news channel that's worth watching. If you're watching any of the other "news" channels, you're just like those 90% of kids in school, getting only one side of the picture. Cheers.Originally Posted by dubiasmartmoney

I dont think Vigilante needs some one to defend him..
anyway, thanks for the input.I apreciate your opinion.
I dont even believe you think fox news are a respectable source of news. But if you thing so, as you kindly put it Cheers!
Now the blame for all the problems are young people,
oh fox news fox news.
Who's defending him? I agree with the video. And yes I watch Fox news; in my opinion if you're gonna watch the news, it's the only news station worth its salt. The others have waaaay to much bias that I don't agree with. Sure, Fox is biased one way, but at least they try and present a balanced argument from both sides of the issue. When was the last time you've seen that on the other stations? There's is usually one sided and takes what someone said so completely out of context, just to fit their political agenda.

Great thought to end this on...There's no such thing as a respectable source of news, you need to consider the source with any bit of information. Every major media conglomerate has special interests that they're catering to.
Too political. Thread done.
