Thank you for the share. I hand wrote your summary just know.

A few short months ago this infographic wouldn't have held much value to me.

Now the abstractness is gone.

I guess the more you fail at this model, the better. Every time you fail using this model, it is because of specific reasons. If you apply the lessons learned next time.... you are that much closer to success.......

Why do they not teach this in school? WHYYY!!!!!!!

Why do they not teach this in school? WHYYY!!!!!!!

Because most teachers don't know this.
Because it doesn't met the education model of producing good employees.
Because it's a secret.
Shush.

I think about that all the time;

"Why not teach this in school?"

But, by definition, we can only be faster than if others are slower than...

It's like how it took me until I was 23 to realize that a lifestyle without having kids is totally legit.

Why did it take me until 23 to realize that? Well, that happens to be when I got out of school.

And school, by definition, is filled with kids who have parents. So all of us assume it's natural to have kids - that's the only thing we're surrounded with. The children of parents who had children.

So, a year after getting out of that environment, I suddenly realized, hey there are people who have great lives and don't have kids.

I just couldn't interact with those people until that point... because... by definition, none of those families had kids to be my classmates.. to teach me that not having kids is good too.

Maybe, having some "sane" people requires that there be some "insane" people?

I shouldn't try to post after attending SXSW...

Shush.
And because it's not for everyone. Most people aspire to nothing more than a salary and idle dreams of making millions. If you were to design a system of education that everyone has to go through, would you design it to fit the few or the many?
And in fairness, educating people to be good employees worked pretty well last century. Many had good lives without being entrepreneurs. That's not really realistic now.

This is true.

And you always run the risk of alienating people when you relentlessly promote being your own boss.

Even when you're trying to do them a favor.

So always be sensitive to people who aren't fastlane.
I try to remind myself, because I can be insensitive.

There's always something to consider - some people are aware of / capable of being fastlane -
but they just care more, now or always, about something else - some different priority or principle.

However, it frustrates me when smart people with good moral principles or interesting ideas don't leverage fastlane principles.
It's just something that's personally important to me, to maximize the leverage of my time on earth.

Not all people think the same as me, and it's condescending to think that they should have to.
I'm so bad at remembering this.
Soooooooooo bad.
And it can lead to alienating good people with different goals than mine.
