Default how do you stay happy in the moment?

How do you stay happy in the moment, while working toward a greater lifestyle?

I started an hvac business in January 2009, because I have been doing this for 15 years, and I wanted to build a company and manage the people doing the work. fast forward 3 years I now have 400K a year in sales revenue with just under 10% net profit. 1 sales man, office manager, 1 helper, and myself, I had 2 technicians but I paid them too much for the value they where giving me in return, and it was costing me to much money to keep them they weren't bring in the service revenue to justify there wages.

I am back in the truck and slaving and trying to grow my business. Since reading TMF I have become conflicted with the business I am in. The Idea of building a fast lane business has caused me to loss interest in the one I have

I want the best life possible and since becoming a business owner I know I never want to work for someone else again.

Now the potential for my heating business to be 1 million or 2 million dollars a year in my city is not unrealistic.

So hypothetically speaking if I got my business to 1million dollars in sales, I should be able to take 8% for managing and 10 % from profit

180K a year would be considered a very good income, It might take me another 3-4 years to get to that point

I want a life of freedom to not have to work, I just feel trapped in my current situation, I feel like I traded a 9-5 job for a 24-7 job

My Wife thinks I will never be happy because I am always looking for more, looking for the future, rather than enjoying the present. We are doing well by most peoples standards, but since reprogramming my brain I believe those standard by which people think we should be living are so low and mediocre. Most people are 9to5 thinkers and come home to watch reality tv until bed time. She is the opposite of me and would work as a nurse making the same 50K a year till she's 60,

IF your not at the point in your life you want to be, how do you stay happy and content with what you have now?

    Your wife is right.

Just realize that your goals are selfish, even if they are for the good of others such as your family. Most of it is for the ego. As soon as you realize it, you can continue pursuing those goals without letting them take you over. You are not your success. Think about that.

Funny thing about desire, is that it's a wild beast centered around the ego that can rage out of control, but once you have the reins, it becomes the horse you ride all the way to success.

Same thing with anxiety, fear, and all those other primal emotions.

Happiness is something internal that flows outward. Not something that flow inward from some external thing. The worst type of "happiness" IMO is the one thats derived from vanity(material garbage, clothes, houses, cars, Fame etc). 5-10 years from now(i'm 20 now) i wanna be cruising a lamborghini gallardo nera with cream interior and cream calipers. But i'm happy right now with having nothing except for a little savings from my business. Sometimes I just kick back outside with my dirty ass Nikes and smoke a cigar and say to myself: "life is good" and then smile. =)
