Default How To Tell If You Have A Great Idea

"Somehow, a bunch of entrepreneurs got it into their heads that good ideas go unfunded. It’s just not true. Because part of what makes something a good idea is the fact that the founder can convey that it’s a good idea. And in the world of funding, there are rules about how one conveys a good idea. You need an addressable market. You need to solve a problem for that market. There needs to be a way to make money. A lot of it. And there needs to be a barrier to entry."

    ...

"If you ask one person for help, and it’s a good idea, you’ll get the name of someone who can help you. If you don’t have a good idea, you don’t get help."

this is the one that always throws me off... twitter... facebook when it got started, among others... no clear way to make money, and yet got a lot of funding.

But how much start-up revenue did they get? As for Facebook, I would have to guess very little since Zuckerberg owns a large portion of it STILL.

Great article! Now I can understand why I didn't get picked in the business plan competition lol

Facebook and Twitter had exponentially growing user traction from the beginning.
    That's what attracted investors.
But the initial sums were relatively small.
