Doing what most people won't to live like most people can't...
Great post.
I came in at the crack of dawn to catch up on a few things, organize for the upcoming holiday week, and exceed a few customer expectations.
Years from now, people will call me lucky. They will say I was in the right place at the right time. They will still be doing then what they are doing now. They will wish for my good fortune and luck.
Right now, they're sleeping in.
My personal countdown:
http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/...n=&sec=&p0=103
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan

Thanks for sharing! I SHOULD put together a personal timeline - I wrote my resignation letter from my NineToFive and I'm giving myself 3 months to get going on all my endeavors. My letter is dated to be given to my "jail warden" on 1/17/2011 with a last day of work on 2/17/2011 (which is Friday, isn't that ironic). Yes, I'm a great employee - I'm giving the warden A MONTH to start getting used to the idea that I'm leaving. Time to pass down my ball and chain to his future prisoner.
I've shared that info to 2 people - one of which is a good friend in this forum - and they both said that it's bold. BUT I have to do what I have to do.![]()
I find early Sat AM a refreshing time without the phone ringing. When I am disciplined and work those extra hours, I find my business surges and I begin to be 'lucky'....being in the right place at the right time and prepared to take advantage of the opportunity. Speed for you.
Khay --- I created that countdown clock and saved it (the link as above) on my favorites bar at the top of my web browser. Literally EVERY TIME I am online (which is most of the day) it is right in front of me. It's pretty motivating. I have no excuses, and time simply cannot be allowed to just slip past me. You could do the same with your target date.
ZCP - thanks for the speed. I once worked for an employer that required Saturday hours every other week. Somehow... it's not the same as when you are working towards your OWN objectives. I literally quit that job BECAUSE of that (and other things) once upon a time... but now that it's on my timetable... it's worth it.

In my experience with cold/warm calling and appointment setting I've found that meeting with a client on a saturday morning yields a higher conversion rate than other weekdays. I can say it's definately not that I am selling items of extreme interest (Hybrid of SEO and Offline Advertising..YAWN), instead I feel it is because most of the calls a business gets regarding new contracts/business arrangements are conducted at the beginning of the week and not at the very end.
Additionally, In the end it doesn't matter so much as to what you're selling. If you can convince a business they are losing money without your help, They will pay to have it justified. Especially on saturdays![]()
So I was watching the start of the Minnesota Vikings game yesterday.
There's three issues with that :
1. Seriously, it was the Minnesota Vikings (now 2-9)
2. Mind numbing, non-productive time. Everyone needs some of that some times, but not me yesterday.
3. Short week this week, and the kickoff to the holiday season
So, midway through the first quarter, I threw in the towel on the Vikings (which turned out to be a great decision) and hit the office for a few hours. Did a few things to exceed some customer expectations, knocked of more of what was on my plate for this week (setting the stage for some hard core family time later in the week) and made it back out of the office in about 3 hours.
Net result? I still had the majority of the day "off", but furthered my business and made some money. The alternative was a couple hours on the couch, watching my home team flounder and lose, and nothing for me to gain out the back side of those two hours I could never get back.
I am a HUGE fan of down time. I want enough time in my schedule to do what ever I want, when ever I want. Today, I need to do things that nobody else will do so that tomorrow I can live like nobody else can live.
Happy Thanksgiving week to all who read this. I hope this upcoming week finds you moving closer to your dreams.
