    Default How's your motivation?

I am continuously trying to research people and get a bead on what people actually want. If you have a moment for me, would you mind answering these questions? Just a little survey! Thanks all!

    1. What is it you are trying to accomplish this year?

    2. What do you think it would take to double your business this year?

    3. What frustrates you the most about your business/life right now? (What is your major pain point?)

    4. What have you already tried to do to improve your situation? Did any of it work or not work?

If anything it will get you to think, but I'd really appreciate some feedback!

Nothing. I'm a passive investor. Every year is my best year.

    1. Build a solid knowledge base of programming and web design skills so that I can get my project up and running.

    2. Since I'm still in the "gassing up" phase, my speedometer is at zero, the double of which is...zero. But my goal is to have a scheduled launch date by year end. To accomplish that I need a working knowledge of the technologies I'll be utilizing, as well as some experience tinkering with them so I can gauge what my working pace will be like.

    3. Two major pain points. The first is not enough time: I often feel that if I had an entire week to myself I could accomplish what will probably take me several months with my current schedule. Second is finding a way of absorbing new information and learning new skills that maximizes comprehension and retention.

    4. Time: Tried putting in late night hours studying, but this backfired as I quickly realized that I was increasingly exhausted at study time and couldn't retain anything. Now I'm just trying to manage the rest of my life more efficiently to maximize my free time. Learning: Was trying free online courses, but found that I wasn't happy with the presentation of info and that immediate access to the internet was too distracting. I've since switched to books, which are working much better for me and I'm retaining more knowledge. I'm also able to utilize time better since I can take a book places I can't take my desktop computer.

Looking for a solid deal to get into. something that will take my focus for a couple years and something that I can ramp and scale, and be fun.

    2. What do you think it would take to double your business this year?

A major deal. adn about 8 months of incredible focus

    3. What frustrates you the most about your business/life right now? (What is your major pain point?)

    Finding good employees

    4. What have you already tried to do to improve your situation? Did any of it work or not work?

    1. What is it you are trying to accomplish this year?

Trying to get my software to the user testing phase.

    2. What do you think it would take to double your business this year?

    A sale

    3. What frustrates you the most about your business/life right now? (What is your major pain point?)

I haven't gotten into the business side of things yet since I'm still in the development stage.
I still have to work out which licensing model to go with.

Major pain point, hmm! I guess it would be that there's no more than 24 hours in a day, ok I admit it I'm a bit of a workaholic.

    4. What have you already tried to do to improve your situation? Did any of it work or not work?

I work on my project every single minute I can. It works as far as progress goes but sometimes it can be too much and you have to step away from the code to pay attention to what is going on around you, especially your family.

I'm constantly reading books, seeking out and following others in my field on twitter, blogs, and websites.
I've learned a lot from the people who are experts in the things I'm interested in. That's why I'm on this forum.

1: Position my company to move into new client bases...same technology, new applications.

Write down and formalize our internal business processes...both to assist in immediate staff expansion and for longterm sell-ability.

Find tenant for my commercial property.

2: On track to double gross this year, through a variety of pushes made last year: marketing campaign, new out of state biz certification. Our sales cycle is really long, so to think about doubling for next year I think it will take:
    - educating clients about new federal contracting program that makes it easier to hire us
    - continuing to make new contacts in developing new area that could be big for us

3: Both partners too involved in every aspect of running business, lack ability to set projects in motion and then trust employees to get it right. Means we end up spending our time on small daily issues instead of having time to push biz further.

4: Tried delegating some management decisions, which worked somewhat. Some employees are better managers than others (admitting we may have done a poor job of explaining what they were managing). And some of the problem stems from a perfectionist nature...instead of stepping back and letting someone make a few mistakes and figure out their own mgmt style, we jump in and meddle. Hopefully a systems approach will work better.
