Default Sorry but Fast-laners Dont fill out 1099s

Had a conversation with a very cool, don't mess with Texas kind of guy. He saw I was reading Trumps "Think Like a champion" and a conversation about business blossoms. I let him know right off bat I'm in school for business/finance but I'm one of the few students at my college there for my own recon, I have no ambition to ever work for anyone again in life once I quit my current job. I told him about how Cash flow Quadrant changed my mentality back in the early 2000's and then again how communities like fastlane promote a rigid "Drivers seat approach" when it comes to business. I told him its important for me to control all of my systems and that I'm currently putting in footwork and have my investment team in place (lawyer, accountant, brokers, ins agents, bank managers, bus consultants/research teams ect ect)- pretty much standard stuff no matter if you are buying a 4-plex or a 4-billion dollar company. Even though I'm just starting out my mentality is like a neurotic Lawyer/Venture Capitalist I prefer abject innovative wealth creation because focusing on income and just making money is a dead end game and invites complaisance.

He lets out that he's independently wealthy and owns his own company. I'm thinking cool someone I could network with and would possibly want to invest with me in something new and innovative. He kept stressing that he could sell it for 10-15 times of what it was worth and that he turned down numerous jobs at JP Morgan, Goldman sacks ect ect because the head hunters couldn't promise him that type of ownership. He said in no more than 20 ways the importance of "owning your own business" I'm thinking he's on the same frequency level I'm on....drivers seat/B-I mentality. He ask me if I ever heard of Primerica...I told him the name is familiar and on my radar via CNBC/WAllstreet journal but I don't know anything about it except that Citigroup owns it....I didn’t know this but basically its AMway/Quixtar for the financial world....you all know where it went from there....he was enthusiastic by my motivation and ambition and wanted to "interview" me....i'm thinking... cool a mentor, joint venture or investing partner.....WRONG!!.....agent/representative(employee).......the whole time during his pitch I kept thinking about the "Drivers-Seat post". It was like he omitted everything I said and went into his sales pitch.

He was like we got one guy making 200K a month....I'm thinking my plan calls for 2 million+ month(starting out)....I finally asked him do you own Primerica or have an Equitable stake in it....he said NO but I own my own offices and have built my agnecy to were its made me financially independent I could sell it whenever I want to...... It was basically like a real estate broker offering me to work in his offices..but he dosn't own Keller Williams/Remax, just his franchise....or a McDonalds franchisee asking me to be shift manager....oh yeah and I was going to get rich through commissions like him...bottom line folks I'm not ranting against Primerica or any other company out there or even him....sounds like he had a plan and stuck to it...my gripe is the confusion people have of "making" money and "creating" wealth.

I love business/finance/economics and that’s why I absorb everything I can, and help anyone I can, but I cherish my TIME and FINANCIAL FREEDOM over all. Even though I have not attained full fruition of my goals yet, I see the payoff of sticking to my gut and following my own plans and passions and not someone elses. I am also fortunate for sites like these and books like "Richdad guide to investing" they focus on true wealth not only in the spiritual/astral sense but in the real world DOLLARS and CENTS and bottom line that means control over the asset, systems, trademarks, intellectual property, merchandising and licensing rights, financial parameters ect.ect......It's far more lucrative to gain the wisdom and wealth from building/bootstrapping a company from scratch than to just buy into one. Do you or your team fill out SS-4’s, compile and review your business plans from scratch, file articles or corporation/LLC/patent forms ect... or did you pay $199 to get a job and the company "took care" of everything else….most importantly will you be hosting your own millionaire mindset conferences/groups compiled of real INNOVATIVE millionaires/billionaires or do you have to pay to attend a motivational shlock-fest with wanna-bees “Independent Business Owners” “Regional Vice-Presidents” “Platinum/Diamond Members”…blah…blah..blah .

Basically true innovative fastlaners, B/I quadrant types should be building the next Primericas/Avons/Amways….GE’s…Microsoft’s…Standard Oils….ect.ect….NOT WORKING FOR THEM!!! Screw that crap about them teaching you valuable business skills....so does Listening and DOING....be willing to take a chance on your own pursiuts. Also don't buy into that "well you gotta start from somewhere"...submissive mentality....please let it be your own company on your terms. True this mind/life set is not for everyone but be weary of the posers out there......
Sorry but Fast-laners dont fill out 1099s

Again- 200K/month(some months) or 2,000,000,000+/month(exponentially growing)

Primerica has great training material for sales and self-improvement. Getting that type of training for $200 does not sound bad to me at all. Problem is when you see this or any other MLM you are part of it as your way to make millions. Very hard to do unless you create the company or are one of the founders.

But again, I think they have great training, you can learn a lot about setting up sales systems, and all of that for less than $200 and a few months of participating in their training sessions.

Of course they do! These wonderful organizations always have "some guy" making $200K/mo, but its never the fool selling it. When you ask 'em, how much you making? They always defer to some other person.

I associate these "businesses" with nothing more than a lottery gamble. Do I deny that there are people out there making BIG money? Of course not, just like I don't deny that people DO WIN the lottery. Yet, I won't go around advocating a lifestyle of playing the lottery. To get involved in one of these organizations for the sole purpose of "getting rich" and "passive income" is likened to doing the same with a weekly lottery buy: You don't have good odds.

Now will joining such a venture be educating and a learning experience? You bet. Sales, teamwork, marketing ... all valuable lessons which make it a step above the idle lottery playing.

About 5 years ago I got a call from an old friend who I haven't heard from in nearly a decade. I thought he wanted to reconnect. I learned the purpose of his call was Primerica, not just to reconnect. Gee thanks for the call!

We fill out more than a dozen 1099's each year, for all of the subs that work for us.

And we have another dozen employees/payroll W2s.

But that wasn't the point of this thread, was it?

I think he might have meant the reverse ... "Fastlaners don't receive 1099's" ... I also had to complete many and if I stilled owned my company, I'd probably have to 1099 all my "non-company" affiliates earning > $600. That was probably 100 or so.

    I understand, MJ.

So, from that perspective: I got many 1099s over the years, when I was self employed.

Lots of entrepreneurs are self-employed (including Diane Kennedy).

While it's not fastlane (not scalable or automated), a good self employed entrepreneur can make some great money.

Who cares if it's 'working for someone else" as long as you get what YOU want out of it?

    For instance:

One 1099 I got a few years ago was for earning $60,000 in one day, from a workshop I taught for another organization.

    1099s? Working for "someone else"?

Trump did it when he spoke at the Learning Annex Expo.

Trump got paid $1,000,000 EACH TIME HE SPOKE (for an hour).

1099s for Donald Trump from the Learning Annex:

    2005: $15,000,000
    2006: $20,000,000
    2007: $30,000,000

    1099s? Working for "someone else"?

    I'll take 'em.

I'll let my fiscal ambassadors (bookkeepers and accountants) worry about this upon my final decision. I'm on a gold rush where my job is to be looking exclusively for that path of least resistance between two simultaneous actions: a.) a product reaching a customer b.) legal tender reaching my account.

I enjoyed reading this article, either way, and I'm more than likely going to have to thank you for posting it. I think you did a good job. Keep em' coming.

    Operation_OPM: Agree with you.

I see it like this: Some people are fit to be entrepreneurs, others as employees, others as franchise operators etc. We all have our own way of making big cash. You can make a hell of a lot as a very skilled employee too. Just as you can make a hell of a lot of cash as an entrepreneur and as a franchise operator. But you need the right mindset to make big money on the path taken. No matter what that path is.

I would have become a really broke guy if I would have taken the employee path because I suck at obeying authority. I mean, I really need to force myself to obey the tax man (so as to stay out of trouble).

When I was drafted for service in the military they spit me out the very first day. Actually, they spit me out in 10 minutes. The thing was, the first place for me to visit in the military was the psychiatrist. When she interviewed me she quickly came to the conclusion that I was impossible to have in the military. And read this: I "really wanted" to become one of the coastguard guys (the elite troops). I had even built up my physic so as to become accepted. But, boy, did I blow it on the mentality side. I was really crushed, seriously. I wanted to become one of the tuff guys. I had a dream as a 13 year old kid. That dream was to become an elite soldier and then advance to be a military captain. One of the commando types.

BUT if you don't have IT, then no number of wishes you have will come true nonthless.

I am not fit to be a follower. I try, but it always becomes a sad chapter for me. And I never make any money either. It ends up in me paying others for the opportunity to follow. What a waste. For both sides that is.
