Does anyone know any good meditation techniques to get me started? I would like to find my inner peace. You can also recommend me any books/websites I could learn from.

google "where to float", with or without enhancing "substances". Unfortunately the people in our area have closed shop, so heavy breathing it is for you![]()
One book I really enjoyed was called Animal Speak...it is about getting in touch with your animal spirit and meditation.

The book The Power of Now changed my life and I highly recommend it.

Hey mate,
For me personally, I do it my own way.
I don't sit in the classic crossed legged pose. I just either lay down or sit comfortably.
Then I control my breathing, making it nice and smooth / slow. It can be good to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth but only if comfortable.
I fix my vision on an object. Something like a picture of a Lambo would be good for this. Or maybe a tree outside. Can you switch between individual branches, then the tree as a whole? Btw, if you shut your eyes you'll probably just want to sleep.
I try to hear as many sounds as possible - Birds outside, water rushing through pipes, cars driving past, people laughing / talking, my own breath, refrigerator hum, train horn in distance etc. Can you switch between isolated sounds, then the noise as a whole?
It's the outward focus on all of these things that quietens the mind. In my experience, just 1 minute without a single thought feels like a real triumph! You "come to" and are like wow that was cool.
I do it on the subway. I do it just walking down the street. You don't have to limit yourself to sitting crossed legged staring at a buddah. Essentially it's just outward focus on multiple object / sounds (i.e. everything). I count breathing as outward, since its outside the mind.
Hope this helps.
