    Default Hello from Poland!

    Hello All!

My name is Paul. I'm 29 and I live in Poland.
Currently I work for one of the biggest IT corporations, and frankly hate it After the initial feeling of earning a decent (high above the average in Poland) salary right after my MSc studies, 5 years went by and all of a sudden I realized that I'm no closer to my dream of financial indipendence, and don't really see any path to get there.
I guess when compared to most of my peers in our country I might be considered blessed as I can live reasonably stress-free when it comes to my income. To put the "stress-free" part in perspective, as this is probably different for US: I live in a rented flat (with my wife), have no mortage, drive 14 y/o car, and can afford to put some money on a savings account every month.

    What brought me here?
Of course, MJ DeMarco's book - I have just started reading it on my Kindle...

Where I hope to be someday?
It is my dream to be financially independent, to be able to build a decent house, travel a lot, and drive my dream car
Do I have a plan to get there? Nope... and that's my problem. I am master at killing any business idea with the "why it can't work". Also, I can see some of my friends trying to achieve their financial independence running their businesses (IT), and having much less to their name than me, while working 20 hours a day, compared to 8 I put in...

Anyways, I am here looking for inspiration, and probably to learn from other people who have already been there...

    Warm greetings from Poland!
    Paul

Trust me, by the time you are half way through this book, you'd have so many ideas you'd feel as if you're gonna burst. The book teaches a lot, as he (author) says, the amount of things you learn reading this book, a lecturer in Business School couldn't teach a quarter of it. Keep looking on the positive side of things, this book is a written life coach that helps put a lot of things into perspective. Trust me on that!

I also wish to welcome you and I wish you all the best in becoming a Fastlaner, you (we all) deserve it!!! Congrats, the book is the first step!

    Thanks Melissmo!

I can say for sure that this book is different in a positive way! I am hoping to read it as fast as possible and spend some more time with the community on the forum!

    Hi Paul,

What part of Poland do you live in? I visited Krakow last summer and was just blown away. Krakow is such a beautiful city and the Polish people are far more outgoing and friendly than in some of the other countries I visited.
MJ's goal was to be Fastlane so that he could get his dream car: a Lambo. My goal is to be Fastlane so that I can go back and visit Warsaw, Lodz, Wroclaw, and of course, Krakow whenever I want.

Oh, Wroclaw, that's really cool! What would you say is an amazing place in Poland that not many people know about? Like other than the major tourist cities?

Trevor: There are really a lot of special places in Poland that are amazing! I personally love its mountains and the seaside, although I'm pretty sure you can also experience that in US You didn't mention Gdańsk in your list and it's certainly a place to see as well.

speedyexe: thanks for the invitation to your Dream Team! I wouldn't mind coding, but would certainly prefer to build something on my own - no offence

Melissmo: thanks again for the ecouragement - I need to focus on the book as I am spending more time recently reading through the forums (Success Stories!) than the book itself! This forum is really an incredible place...

No problem but remember that no man is an island and better to have half of something than 100% of nothing - no offence as well and good luck!

    Best regards,
    Dan
