Hello Fastlaners,
My name's Brad. I'm 24. Raised in Scottsdale and currently live in the West Valley. I know there are more than a few AZ locals on here after lurking for a few days.
I finished reading Millionaire Fastlane a few days ago. Great book. It really added a new perspective and reignited some old concepts I had floating around in my head. The pages about evaluating the NEED instead of money are so clear and I needed to re-learn that simple statement. I am currently recommending it to my friends and making it required reading for my girlfriend.
I grew up reading RDPD, Babylon, etc, etc... My father was hell bent on teaching me the concepts presented in those readings. I saw intentional iteration work first hand during 2001-2004 as his girlfriend at the time acquired SFH after SFH and is now very well off.
I have started and ran a number of "businesses" including: in elementary school selling bags of candy purchased from Costco to other students out of my backpack, hiring my sisters to sell food/drink out of wagon at local park during soccer season, back in the Napster days I bought and learned how to install one of the first CD burners to make custom mixes that I took orders for at school and sold to other students, lawn mowing business, and me and a buddy started a networking and web design company sophmore year in college to pay bills.
Anyway, me and the lady finished school last year and now we make north of six figures at our jobs. We managed to get through school with no debt as I am a frugal sob when need be; and save a significant amount of money. I plan on taking advantage of the RE markets in this area and purchasing a condo property around ASU and a MFH in a low-middle income neighborhood. I have done some preliminary searching already. We already have a home we live in and I have a small single member LLC that I was working an invention idea on, but became distracted with other tasks.
My fastlane ideas so far include a number of inventions I have down on paper (some digital hardware, some for the packaging/shipping industry), Web affiliate marketing (absorbing as much as possible as fast as I can), some web content ideas that could be developed, SaaS and of course the RE iteration.
Things I am doing now: Searching for a local RE agent to get us physically into a property, as well as a mortgage broker that is familiar with the types of properties we are looking to get into. Reading a book on RE metrics and building an excel sheet to easily screen properties. We are only looking for cash on cash >25%.
Things I want to be doing: Finishing my digital hardware, writing an automated script that uses Zillows' API to grab data in the area and screen out any investments we would be interested in.
I have a lot of other business ideas that I would be willing to share (ideas are easy and time-free). If there is a local meetup somewhere I would like to go if it is not private.
Oh yeah and T&R is shorthand for what I am going to name my future boat (my 'Lambo', I'm more of a Model S guy anyway). I doubt anyone could guess what it stands for.![]()
