PARKED
Hello! First post here after finding the forum using Google. I have been working on a business for the past 3 years (website) and finished as much coding as I can do from my coding experience. There are features which if executed correctly can become a new daily tool for students. My coding is skill is good enough to build it, but not to make it life changing. Basically, I need investors. I have several investors who know about the project, but have asked to see it launched. The problem is I don't have the balls to do it at this point. I've worked a long time on the idea, and I'm basically afraid of launching it and because my coding is inferior to others, that the idea will fail due to poor execution. So here's my question. I have an idea, it's build and runs smoothly and very easy to use. But it's not fancy (bare bones). If I launch and there are multiple unseen glitches - such as coding errors that I haven't picked up myself, or if people come and love the idea, but hate the layout. How can I keep my website from crashing and burning before I can re-approach investors? Thanks!

Sounds great!
A lot of fancy bells and whistles sometimes just make a website confusing and complicated to use. Some really simple websites (like Reddit, for example) are great, serve a purpose, and have become really popular.
You could pay a professional (you could find someone really cheap on odesk) to just check things over for you, or you could post your site here and you will get feedback (maybe even more than you want... lol).
The only way that you can really find out if people will like it is to launch your beta of the site and pay close attention to what people tell you. If you get mostly positive feedback and can make the minor improvements yourself, you could be in business (figuratively and literally).
I would think seriously before you ask for investors. If you are capable of launching the site on your own, I would wait and pay someone to make the improvements.
I hope that you introduce yourself in the introduction threads to tell us all a little about what your background is, etc.
