    Question Picking Brandable Domain

Hi everyone, I'm new here and hope to contribute and learn as much as I can.

I'm trying to pick a brandable/long term name that I can build out for years in the real estate investing niche

    So far It's between

    Ok so

    Estatebits.com

Tagline: Real Strategies for the financially ambitious

    OR

    Estateplant.com

    OR

    RealEstateMoneyTree.com

    OR

    EstateSeed.com

    OR

    RealEstateSeed.com

    OR... you decide

    I'm deciding by tonight

I'd really appreciate everyone feedback and/or other suggestions on domain names.

    Plans for website:

My thoughts are while there is good information on real estate investing, there is by far more crap/get rich quick scheme than I myself can handle and over time I want to become a trusted resource.

By being transparent about my own success/failures
    Doing REAL deals.
    Open community.
    Learning everything I can.

If you had to choose between these two domains, I would go with the second. But I don't think any of them was optimal, too long and hard to remember.
I also don't think the names are brandable. I would suggest that you choose something short and catchy like "EstateBits".

I know, you're right the shorter the better.

For me, for sure none of them are brandable.

Let's take a look on best brands in the world: Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Ford, Ferrari, Versace, Boss, Patek, IBM, Microsoft etc. They are all easy to remember and quite catchy. Though, those were made by years.

To catch the idea of brand You should see this video in the link below:

    Wolff Olins

They have quite a portfolio, so I think they may have something to say in this case. Oh, and if You need some inspiration - they also have case studies on their site.

With all due respect, I don't like either of the names either. They are both too long to brand. The first one, honestrealestateinvesting.com makes me think of just the opposite...as in, what are you trying to hide by "saying" that you're honest? 2nd one is just too long and not catchy enough to brand.

    Thanks everyone for the honesty.

Lol, sharky that's exactly what I was worried about honest real estate investing.

My UPS was going to be that I give the truth, albeit some of it tough to swallow (not you are going to make 100,000 of passive income your first year type crap ect..) but it does automatically bring up, mmm is he hiding something?

Realestatemoneytree.com is probably better but it sounds too "guru" BS to me.

That being said, scrap both of the domains above.

EstateBits? I like it. What you guys think? Any other brand able name ideas?

Short, Catchy, Easily Spelled, and a DOT com

    Peace

Dude, "RealEstateMoneyTree" all the way! That's a very memorable, and catchy domain.

Also, you have a great sounding plan as well. Please, when it gets up and running give us a link to the site. I would love to check it out.

Edit: Wow, while I was posting this it seems a lot of members didn't like it. Well, I'm sticking to my guns. I'll be the black sheep. lol I still like it.

    Really Kinsey?

Mmm, Interesting. That is what I was thinking at first. Appreciate the contrary input.

I thought it would be a good title for a book (like four hour work week)

I honestly think its a catchy name. It may be a little long, but it doesn't leave you guessing as to what the site is. It's gonna teach you how to make money in Real Estate.

But that's just me I guess. And (again in my opinion) I think it would be a good book name too. I'd buy it.

That's one of the problems I have with some of the really short names. I've heard direct is always more effective than clever in marketing.

I'm not a fan of the three latest either. When I make domains, I look for something memorable and flows well when you say it. I go to Domain Search - Domain Name Generator - Domain Name Search | Nameboy.com for brainstorming. You can put all the words that you may want to use and see the combinations. Also you can choose synonyms of the words you input.

Lol, I still like RealEstateMoneyTree. You should create a poll for this thread and see what people think.

In Poland just few months ago an aggregator of offers from real estate offices has been launched. For now it has appx. 800k offers from more than 1,000 offices. Guess the name?

    Morizon

And it made we think - how the hell is this linked to the real estate business? Well, for me - it's not. But it's better than that - it's brandable. Brand name doesn't have to be linked to the product or service.

Back to my previous post: Ferrari, Boss, Patek. What it has to do with parfums, cars or watches? Nothing, absolutely nothing. They are brands. Made by surnames of founders or they are just made up, but who gives a shit. You buy brand and all the attitudes attached to it.

To show You the power of brand - think about Boss. What do You think? Parfums, clothes, watches, bags. Think Ferrari - yes, mainly cars, but they have also parfums, clothes, watches, bags. See the patern? It's not what You sell - it's who sells.

You want it to be big - think big and brainstorm. Get paper and write every single brand name that will come to You mind. Don't rate - just write whatever comes to You. Rating kills imagination, so keep focused.

yea realestatemoneytree is very long. i like estatebits, just because its shorter and easier to memorize if someone were to see an ad and had to remember the entire website name. either way, it sounds like a good idea, good luck! it would be interesting to know if some of those names are on the list are more expensive than others, if thats the case put cost into the equation as well.

Idk, I don't buy the idea of "brand". A brand takes hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising, puts you at a disadvantage for SEO, and needs all the right connections with distribution and awareness to grow.

Unless you are selling something completely innovative and patented, have the capital to grow the brand, or don't might spending 10 years+ before making head way I don't think brandability is worth it. I would create the name like this.

2-3 phrase keyword I'm targeting + 3-4 letter bonus word. I would make sure it sounded catchy, was easy to spell, and easy to remember too. If it was too long I would buy a second domain with the abbeveiations and use it as a redirect to the main domain.

I'd go with Realestatemoneytree.com and then buy REMT.com with it.

I go with Estatebits.com as well if that's your choices. The one thing I've learned about real estate investing is that funding will not always go to real estate. I started funding foreclosures/reo/shortsales, and the next thing I know, I was buying life insurance policies. So go with a name that isn't going to restrict what you think the possibilities may become down the road. Good luck.

Of the choices I like EstateBits.com ... the "bits" alludes that the advice is SHORT and to the point. Web surfers have short attn spans. That said, I still look into the 2ndary market for something that might be better, and be acquired for less than < $1K.
