    Default Wordpress worm

    I know there are many of you with wordpress blogs, so I thought I would pass this along. Make sure you have updated it to the latest version.

    Slashdot Developers Story | Wordpress.org Warns of Active Worm Hacking Blogs

    Here is the jist of the article.....

    Originally, updating the Wordpress system was a rather laborious process; however, newer versions offer fast and simple one-click upgrades. The two most recent versions of Wordpress (2.8.3 and 2.8.4) cannot be attacked by the worm discovered this week, and blogs hosted at Wordpress.com are also apparently immune."

    Thanks Jim,
    I am an upgrading fanatic, good to know there was a reason behind my compulsion. One of the great things about having a WP blog or website is that they do let you know each time you enter your admin area what is current and what needs upgrading.

    What's the advantage to installing it on your server over using the online version with their servers?

    You get significantly more control over your site. Way more options and control with self-hosted Wordpress.
