    Default User Generated Video Reviews

So i am ready a lot about video on the web yadda yadda, i think i had posted about it earlier this year as web 3.0. I see Amazon and a few other major e-tailors letting buyers upload their own un-edited/un-audited reviews to the product pages.

From what i see it is increasing sales. What is my guess for those e-tailers. They shift into a program like google. You create a review and get paid everytime it gets watched and a sale is made. Of course A or any others would have to have a massive tracking system for the IP's and cookies ETC. but you wont have as much fraud if they got paid per view. If a sale has to be made, the creator is certainly not going to buy the product everytime just to get paid a few cents or dollars.

I think videos would require to have the product physically in the video to show proof of an actual review. This would encourage people to create reviews for the fact that they might be able to pay back their purchase over time. It also helps drive sales to the merchant.

I just thought of it sitting here, Do any of you think this would be a good model?

What about a company offering it thrid party to incorporate into your site? (not my intentions, but i could see this happening)

Sounds like an excellent model, if you are the provider/aggregator of the system. Lots of details to be worked out, but that goes with anything.

Drive this concept (you create a system that allows video reviews and you pay your contributors) vs
Ride the concept (you make reviews and some 3rd party pays you for your contributions.)

Yea, I could see it being a company that has an integrete-able platform for each OS cart software and could be made to fit any one off in house softwares. it would have to be linked to a good tracking software and some sort of affiliate commission system. So like a mash up of cj/ga/youtube haha.

I could see this as a venture funded idea as well. That would be a fun adventure.

I'm not sure that I fully understand your concept, but it sounds like what I and many many other affiliates are doing with video reviews to sell products.

There is definitely a favorable bias in Google's rankings toward videos, and some percentage of people prefer them (non technical peoples, for techies they are too hyper and prefer to scan a page of print to digest the information faster).

Good free video distribution site: TubeMogul.com | In-Depth Tracking, Analytics for Online Video | Web Video Syndication

search on youtube for virtually any product and you'll find affiliates who have done video reviews.

The difference here is people are uploading them to community sites. Amazon allows users to upload to their site directly to the product page. So if you offered your shoppers a way to make money. Tell them to create a review and attach it to the site. new users watch and buy, the user that did the review gets paid a small portion. Right now it seems that you all are running reviews on community sites like vimeo and youtube. Which is fine for mass promotion. I am talking more in house, on page reviews to ramp up sales and kicking back to the user.

Might be the same concept in a different box

Lots of customers offer reviews of products without expecting reward from it. In fact a wise retailer realizes that part of the buying cycle is expressing satisfaction/complaints and encourages it.

Just make it easy for them to do the reviews via video and they will. There are lots of blogs now where you can post video comments very easily. Also, bringing in remuneration for the reviews will taint them and make them less believable. Might as well use actors, or affiliates
