Default Caffeine can kill your productivity!

Too much caffeine can kill your productivity. I have been addicted to those stupid blue, low carb monsters for a while, and I never get addicted to ANYTHING. I decided to quit, and have been slowly weening myself off caffeine. Today is my first day without caffeine, and I feel lazy and lethargic. It sucks...I am completely unproductive and I feel like a lazy a**hole.

So my solution is to either go the gas station and grab a monster, and then wait until the weekend to quit cold turkey. This way I can be lazy, feel lethargic without feeling TOO guilty. I can read the forums, read books, and chill by the lake without feeling too bad about it.

    OR

I can NOT go get that can of monster and suffer through it today. I don't know what the right choice is, but I'm posting this so I can hold my self accountable for this goal: quit caffeine for 30 days. Starting today or Monday.

    Can anyone relate?

Absolutely, but I enjoy coffee way too much to give it up, I'm a very drowsy person when I sit down to do work and I couldn't function properly for any length of time without it.

    Can't relate.

I do use a LOT of caffeine. BUT I go caffeine free every 3 days so I don't get addicted.

    Everything in moderation I believe.

I quit caffeine last month. I was drinking 5-6 large coffees a day plus energy drinks. I had bad headaches for 4 days. Fatigue for a few days after that and now I'm fine. A little headache and tiredness ins't going to kill you. You can push through it and you'll be glad you did.

Incorrect thread title, lack of caffeine can kill your productivity, that's what's going on with you. A little caffeine is not bad, if you want to stop, slow down, but you don't have to quit cold turkey. If you wish to quit, then by all means knock yourself out.

I was drinking a cup a day on average simply because I enjoy its taste but hated the fact that every day I missed it I would have withdrawal headaches. I generally like being in control of most aspects of my life and it was like a minor addiction so I quit cold turkey. Bad headaches and a bit tired for about a week but its better to enjoy it on occasion rather than having to drink it to avoid a headache.

I would just hang in there and quit now, you'll be better off without the caffeine.

I quit caffeine and vitamins cold turkey. The detox sucked bad for a week or so- it was really terrible- I was incredibly sleepy no matter what, no energy at all... But i filled up with a lot of water- and now I feel better than ever and my skin is so clear and always glowing- friends and family always think I'm wearing make up when I'm not.

Try to rough it out and don't go back---You will feel better once its all gone. Replace with Kombucha (at Whole Foods) if you have a "latte factor" meaning you just have to have your "staple" drink 2 and 3 times a day...

What vitamins, why. That's such a general statement, what vitamins were you taking you needed to quit or did you read somewhere that all vitamins are bad for you?

Do your research! I wouldn't drink that if someone paid me to, do you even know what it it? Sounds like something a MLM would sell lol

What's wrong with Kombucha? I did research it- briefly...But decided that it was safe and ok, seeing as it was in Whole Foods...I have not had any problems with it...Why do you say it sounds like an MLM product?

I liked it. It was like a detox for me- I drink a "shot" of it with a glass of carrot juice or organic grapefruit juice.

I stopped the vitamins because I believed they were making me nauseous, tired, and always feeling bloated. I just quit on my own, as a choice, deciding I no longer wanted vitamins in my system. I chose to just eat real veggies, drink lots of water and call it a day.

I took different ones(not at the same time, and not everyday)- from the B family (6, 12, and stress complex), vitamin D, vitamin C (chewables), I had papaya enzymes, biotin echinacea, chlorophyll, multi-vitamins, folic acid, etc. to name a few.

I feel much more alert and energized now that I don't drink coffee or take vitamins. Not sure if the vitamins have anything to do with the before or after- I just know that I stopped both at the same time...

Really? What kind of vitamins were you taking? I take Super B-Complex (it's kinda like a 5-hour energy minus caffeine). It's what keeps me going (literally, it makes me pee a lot).

It is a bacteria and yeast with no medically proven health benifiets, in fact, the only health effects that have been noted are negative ones. Just because something is sold in a store, does not mean it is good for your health, case in point, they sell cigarettes in gas stations, does that mean they are ok for your health? I'm not saying it's bad for your health, because nothing is proven, but just because some marketer can say "It's a great detox", or "the Japanese used it for thousands of years" doesn't make it a credible health product, I can make a website about the health benifets of snail goo and sell it. IMO I wouldn't touch the stuff, not saying you shouldn't. I say it sounds like an MLM product because MLM's love to sell "health" products that work miracles like OG selling Ganoderma coffee, people love to buy mystical ancient remedies that are sure to cure cancer and make you invincible

I am going to start selling leeches used for bloodletting, noting it's vast use in out medical history and it's miraculous powers I will control the niche, want to join my MLM, it's called HeaLeech Health Remidies?
    (Just pulling your leg^)

Why were you taking so many vitamins haha, vitamins can be helpful if you are lacking a certain type of vitamin or nutrient but you don't need to have a medicine cabinet full of em unless you have a need for them

Well...took the plunge and got a monster. I immediately felt better (crazy!). I'm officially quitting Saturday Morning...for one month. If I feel better, I'll have caffeine only sparingly.

Whenever you feel like you must have caffeine, simply go drink a huge glass of cold water.

We don't use caffeine regularly, but when we need to cram on a project, sipping on coffee sure increases our concentration. But then the burnout really sucks afterwords. There's been a lot of positive research on the effects of caffeine on neurotransmitters.

get your exercises in! i don't have these withdrawals, headaches, and all sorts of issues i see people having. but then again, i'm very physically active and workout hard often and eat quite healthy. take care of your body, i honestly feel the caffeine is just a minor part of your problems. i personally like it because it holds off hunger for a few, the difference between drinking it and not drinking it is the difference between eating now or 3 hrs later.

I'm drinking one of those tasty lo-carb blue monsters as I type I worked from 0830-1930 today, finished packing my bag, and I'm squeezing in 5 more hours from midnight to 5am before I go to the airport. No sleep for the foreseeable future.
