Question What to do before selling my product?

I have created a new Beauty/Hygiene product. Do I have to put my product through 'testings' before I can sell it online, door-to-door, vendors, etc.?
For example having my product approved legal and safe to use. And any advice on avoiding getting sued if something goes wrong. Is there some type of insurance for that? Im Canadian by the way.

IMO, at the minimum, you will need product liability insurance. My opinion, not legal advice.

Here in the U.S. The FDA has a tad authority over this area and says the product cannot be "adulterated" or "misbranded". Check your local laws regarding regulation. If I were you I would test it and make sure its safe to avoid a "breach of duty/negligence" lawsuit and a product fail/meltdown.

The FDA(U.S. gov website) website has a few tips on ingredients and testing here: Product and Ingredient Safety

This is a great business to get into if you know your stuff.

    Good luck

I was doing some chemistry research today because chemistry is my Fastlane (cleaning agents, energy drinks, powders, creams/lotions, other agents etc) even though finance is my college major. As I was doing research this thread came to mind about safety. Remember that certain chemicals/ingredients in their pure molecular form are harmless but once mixed with other harmless chemicals you can have a toxic or harmful mixture. I would research each ingredient and then research the whole mixture.

I would become more familiar with chemistry if i were you. Do you think the founder of 5 hour energy drink has no idea what his product consists of and why it does what it does???? or do you think the founder of gorilla glue is oblivious of his product composition? of course not the dude knows his shit. Chemicals is a fantastic fastlane route if you know your stuff, very low start up costs and high barriers to entry. Go to the cost of goods sold section of any soda company or energy drink and you will see that this stuff is cheap to make.

The needs in this area are so bountiful its mind boggling. I saw a need the other day when my sister complained that her makeup was a pain in the ass to take off. right there a need was exposed. compose a type of make up substance that comes off with ease or invent a wipe type product that does the trick.

the key in this industry is CAUSE and EFFECT. imagine your intended effect and work backwards to the cause. if i want a certain effect then i need the right chemical composition or configuration/CAUSE to produce that effect. pay attention to that because its the heart of this industry that so so so many people miss.

I have a bunch of cosmetics products bought wholesale in Taiwan. What are the legalities of selling them via eBay and my website?
