Default I was just told about kickstarter.com today...

One of my consulting/intern colleagues told me about a website: Kickstarter.

Apparently, its an open platform for people to get their creative ideas and entrepreneurial ventures funded by private parties.

Admittedly, I don't know much about the site, but thought perhaps some people on this forum have had direct experience with it, or have heard of positives or negatives associated with the platform.

Any input or experience would be welcome.

    Thanks guys,

    Mike

    Default Thanks!

That was all the info I needed.

If I have any "save the world" type friends who DONT want/need to make a profit or income from their start-ups, I will make sure to send them that direction!

    Cheers!

the only thing that worked 300% was the ipod nano watch bracelet.

TikTok+LunaTik Multi-Touch Watch Kits by Scott Wilson — Kickstarter

goal was $15k, they had almost one milion dollars!!!

everything else seems to be artsy stuff.

Is there some kind of competitor to Kickstarter that allows business ideas ? Can't imagine there wouldn't be one.

Google crowdfunding - there are several other sites beyond kickstarter. For this process to be successful you really need a concept/problem/issue that the "masses" will find appealing and will want to help you create.

These two articles seem to have a good amount of links for sites that do crowdfunding, albeit some are the same. Most have the creative tie-in though.

you need to be very, veyr fast into production.

that ipod nano watch did make money from kickstarter project, but by the time they were reayd to ship them, there were alreayd multiple copies in the major stores...

IMO using this approach is the best thing to get someone to market before you.
