Obviously, you should build your own asset instead of someone else's.

Ok. So this is the thing. Early this year I had a good idea on my millionaire business. It is not something new and lots of businesses are doing this already. This is a B2B business, so I started cold calling businesses to offer them my service. It didnt go so good and I was getting desperate to make a living.
Last month my old friend that I was in competition in everything; More money, best car, best business, best girlfriend etc. came up to me and offered me to work for him on commission. He is currently on a fast track and his business is more successful smx4:
I took the job.
Now I am figuring out that he makes Big Time Money off of me!! for every $20,000 contract I close for the company I get only 1,800. But he gets a 7,000-9,000K without doing anything. I understand though that he built the company and he spent a lot of time making it to work, but he is still a butthole!!!!!
My question to you all is WHAT SHOULD I DO???
Should I quit and continue working on my original plan?
Should I ride passenger for a while?
ONE THING IS CERTAIN; I don't want to get rich just by watching him get 5X richer.
Obviously, you should build your own asset instead of someone else's.
Although, if you don't currently have a good business idea, or are currently developing one, feel free to work for him in the meantime. Just don't ride in the Slowlane forever.![]()
If that is what you want to do, learn from how he does it and learn to do it yourself. If you don't want to do that business then learn what you need and what you can from it, like learning to sell. You can apply that to your own business. Then when you do it in your business you will be the one making the big bucks. While you are there I would say learn what you can about how he got to where he is now, and why his business is successful. As soon as you can, though, I hope you will get on the road yourself again. Like MJ said, a job takes away from your real job which is growing your own money tree, so the sooner you can get back to your real job, the better.
IMO, learn from the experience and continue working your plan -- if you are successful in booking contracts at $20K a pop, that is an awesome skill to have and will translate well when you start building your own asset. Also, can you do what his company does, but better? All entrepreneurs who start off by themselves ultimately are sales people and it appears you have that down. While your boss might be getting rich, you might be enriching yourself too by the experience and insider knowledge of the business ... which you can leverage later.
What are you selling?
Stop comparing yourself... it is not a race against him. It is about YOU and only YOU. your goals.
Do not let him drive your life. So, if you have an awesome gilrfriend but he get a "prettier" one, will you "trade" your just to up him? oh boy. You are allowing him to drive your life.
As MJ says, you can sell, that is the most valuable skill to have, and it usually transfers very well between industries.
And again, stop looking at your boss, he is doing great, you are doing good... but you are getting paid to learn and you can make money while you keep building your asset.
When talking to "his" customers, make sure they build a relationship with you as well, not only with your frined/boss's business. Networking networking networking.

Boring and steady makes you money. Do not get distracted by shiny objects.
I agree with everyone else. Use it as a learning experience, then go off on your own.
However, why do you not like him? Is it because you are jealous? I have to say that you have a great asset there, your friendship. There is nothing wrong with friendly competition to keep yourselves motivated, but there is something wrong with jealously. You should be happy for him and his achievements.
In addition, he seems to know something you don't, and that is leverage.
My advice would be to straight out ask him how he got to where he is and if he can coach you to help you achieve the same thing but with your own business idea. If he cares enough about you to offer you a job, I think he would care to help you through coaching too.
Thank You guys...
I took all your suggestions in consideration.
I will work for him for a few months and at the same time I will work on my business after hours. Besides, I only work for him like 25-30 hours per week. In the time that I am not working for him I will push myself to invest as much time as possible in my own thing.
If you need to be an employee for now it might as well be for your butthole friend. Better to make him rich than an anonymous butthole. Point is either way you are working for a butthole just temporarily until you reach your ultimate goal of becoming a butthole yourself???

Yesterday I had quit the job. I explained him my position on working for somebody else and he did understand. As I see it, I left on good terms.
Now, enough of that.
I got my business license a couple hours after I quit. Bought a domain name for my own business and was busy all day yesterday building my website until I almost fell asleep on my keyboard.
I also started a word document entrepreneurship diary of where I set my goals for the the day and how I execute each one and I will document all of my trials and errors of what it took me to make the million dollars. My goal is to make 1,000,000 in 24 months. In 2 years, I will probably publish this on the internet as my road to wealth.
