This was a nice article / interview on how to do market research from the Yellow Pages.

Also hints how profitable the Lead Gen space is! I know!
Michael: You’re doing 800 leads for the mortgage business a month?
Vanish: Yes.
Michael: And what are you charging them per lead?
Vanish: We’re charging $25 per broker.
Michael: You’re making $75 a lead?
Vanish: Yes.
Michael: And you’re doing 800 a month?
Vanish: To be honest, closer to 1,000.
Michael: Are you serious?
Vanish: I’m not joking.
Michael: You’re doing $75,000 a month in these leads?
Vanish: Yes.
Michael: Wow, Vanish, that’s incredible.

I think there is something useful to me. Great information! Thanks!
Things like that are why i am a member of this site, always learning....that guy is really smart. Question, this is for MJ if he gets across to it....
You have a website for B2B. You have the provider and you have the potential customers.
How do you break these email lists up? When users sign up should they click "provider" vs. "customer" and their sign up format changes? Now, once they fill in their information as a "provider" would go to one email program and "customer" would go to another?
I have heard managing email lists is very important, and before i start getting people to the site i want to have the proper strategy in managing my users email list.

I just finished reading this interview -- I get Michael Senoff's ezine. This fantastic interview is one of many on his website. I highly recommend the members of this forum checking his stuff out. There are some gems on his site.
The way I have done this with reasonable success on a number of my sites is to have it default to whichever is expected to be the most common sort, with a big, clearly visible button at the start to click if you are the secondary type.
E.g. default it to a consumer inquiry, with a "B2B Customer? Click Here!" button.
I'm sure theres a better way, but this has worked fairly well so far - that said, most of these have been where 80% is of one type.
I agree. He sends you a lot of email but I get over it because the interviews are so quality .... it reminds me of millionaire blueprints without all the MLM shit and the undelivered issues.
I posted a thread last year about his site, all the great interviews, and it didn't seem many were interested.

MJ,I posted a thread last year about his site, all the great interviews, and it didn't seem many were interested.
That's unfortunate.
My rationale for becoming an entrepreneur was based, in part, on the interview Senoff conducted with Bill Bartmann. Although I hear Mr. Bartmann is not doing as well as he was 20-some years ago, his being in debt and realizing that starting a business was the only way to retire that debt rang true to me.
The principles of entrepreneurship -- mainly recognizing an opportunity and taking action -- I gleaned from that interview are notions for which I will be forever grateful.

The interview was quite valuable to me. I finally understand how Lead Gen works in part to the detailed examples. I had an idea but wasn't quite on the money.
MJ, at what point should a person offer some affiliate marketing to such a business model? E-Biz is not quite my thing, but to me it seems ultra fastlane to offer it right from the get go. Have extra resources market your site for you to help bring in those leads Yes? No?
