Thread: Capital and motivation YES - Knowledge NO, any help please???

Hey Everyone

I would like to start a glamour agency business. I have the capital but not the knowledge unfortunately. Can someone send me some tips about my idea? Building connections is the most important factor they said to me.... From where to start?? I heard that the best way is to find a mentor....does someone knows how to find a mentor for that specific business? Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you.

I love this kind of discussions. For me was a bit obvious what is a glamour agency but doing like this i might explore it even more.

Glamour Agency is like a Model agency which mainly finds models, takes care of them in every kind of aspect and does their promotion to
different sectors. Now the word Glamour with the modern term in the model industry is roughly still models but not strictly slim and meeting requirements like high, weight etc....Glamour Model can be even an old lady or a not fit one.
I live in Manchester and I see a grate potential for that kind of business here. I speak about the huge amount of people of international mixture and not the presence of other agencies which i did not make any research yet.

Now my vision is to be more innovative and differentiate myself from my competitors. What could be that? I don t know yet....

Your last question.....I studied pharmacy and I am a pharmacist....I had personal reasons for studying smt that I did not like but seeing the current economical crisis i don t regret it. I don t think I am the last person as well that is doing smt that does not like.

Apart what I studied then I don t have a clue of anything else as far as business concern. I want to try though smt that I would love to get involved...

There is the capital as well, my passion and in my opinion a grate location to explore smt new...

What do you think? Do you have any experience in that kind of business??

I want to find a way to gain that knowledge in the most efficient way....Do you have any ideas for that??

My situation in detail...

I think you are right from the one hand because I should be more specific of what I want but I was waiting first some replies and then according to those replies I could build my thoughts which I still don t have them....

First of all we probably all know what is a model agency and what is doing.... So someone can tell me then try to do that... Find the models and promote them....
I have the feeling that in every kind of business there is always something more than that...otherwise everyone who has the capital could be successful...what do you think?

My inquiry more specifically was how someone who has the capital, motivation, people to support him, great location (in my opinion) can find the most efficient way to gain the required knowledge.

Let me be more specific by telling you an idea which I had....

I don t think I am going to have any positive feedbacks if I go to famous photographs, agencies etc...even in another location far from Manchester and ask them the magic formula of success. Why those people should help me at the end??
I thought maybe I can build a website for North West of UK where photographs, models, agencies...etc...can get in touch...With that way even if the website would not be successful I might be able to know the most important people and by my indirect way starting to learn new things....What do you think??

I want some help of how to start gaining that knowledge....

Since it seems you don't know much about the industry you want to get in to, can I suggest if you are really set on that industry, to see if you can get a job with an existing company to get some more experience in and understanding of the work, before setting out on your own? This could also help you establish contacts etc, too, which you've said is a positive for the business type.
