Default Cultured Diamonds - Real Diamonds Grown By Man

    Hi Guys

I have come into contact with a company that can actually supply these at really good prices. Am looking for any advice on marketing something like this that hasnt hit the market as much as i believe it could. Following is an introduction to cultured diamonds as well as a FAQ...

    Introduction to Cultured Diamonds
Diamonds grow naturally whenever carbon is exposed to extreme heat and pressure. Mined diamonds are formed underground, more or less by chance. Cultured diamonds, by contrast, are those in which humans give a helping hand. By inserting a diamond seed into a controlled environment at the correct temperature and pressure the carbon naturally grows onto the seed forming a genuine diamond.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is a cultured diamond a real diamond?
A: Yes. A cultured diamond is a real diamond.

Q: Does a cultured diamond test positive on a diamond tester?
A: It does. Being a genuine diamond a cultured diamond will always test positive on a diamond tester.

Q: Can a jeweler tell the difference between a cultured diamond and a mined diamond?
A: No. Cultured diamonds are indistinguishable from mined diamonds by any conventional means, even to diamond experts.

Q: Are cultured diamonds as hard and durable as mined diamonds?
A: They are. Cultured diamonds share all the physical, optical and chemical qualities of mined diamonds.

Q: Are cultured diamonds more environmentally friendly than mined diamonds?
A: Yes. Being grown in a controlled environment the stones are not mined. Mining has many devastating effects on mother earth.

Q: What about blood diamonds? Can you guarantee cultured diamonds are conflict free?
A: Absolutely. All our cultured diamonds are of known origin and are laser inscribed by the Cultured Diamond Foundation. They can be easily traced to their source.

Q: Are cultured diamonds more expensive than their mined counterparts?
A: No. They are in fact more affordable. The price of a cultured diamond is 30 – 60% lower than that of a mined diamond.

Q: What about coloured diamonds? I have heard that diamonds come in fancy colours. Is this possible in cultured diamonds?
A: It certainly is. The cultured diamond is grown identically to a mined diamond. This means the natural processes that make coloured diamonds also apply in the controlled environment. We are currently focusing on the now popular fancy yellow and fancy orange diamonds.

Can your really fool the grading agencies with a cultured diamond? The prices are so much lower (because there is no rarity) that I'm quite sure you can't fool the agencies.

You can fool your wife though and everyone around :P

This is not about fooling anybody. The diamonds are laser inscribed declaring that the diamonds are cultured in nature. They are far more environmentally friendly than mined diamonds, yet they are the real thing. They are indistinguishable from mined diamonds in every way. except for the fact that I intend to declare them as cultured diamonds.

And with regard to rarity, if you do some research on mined diamonds they are in fact extremely common. The market is simply controlled so that the diamonds seem more desirable.

Most synthetic diamonds that are commercially sold are yellow in color and made from a process known as High Pressure High Temperature. The yellow color is produced by nitrogen impurities, and yellow is not the only color that might be present. Other synthetic stones may produce shades of blue, green or pink that result from additions such as boron or because of irradiation.

Synthetic diamonds are also less likely to contain inclusions.

Synthetic diamonds are primarily used for industrial purposes.

I went and checked d.nea (one of the top player) and they don't even have any diamond over .25ct in clear.. only yellows. (Real Lab Grown Synthetic Diamonds - D.NEA Synthetic Diamonds)

True. These impurities occur in nature as well and the coloured diamonds that are made as a result are called fancy coloured diamonds. They are also far more expensive than your white stones. I believe the term synthetic however is misleading when it comes to these diamonds as most diamond simulants are marketed as synthetic diamonds. That's why I call them Cultured Diamonds. Mined fancy yellow diamonds go for $20000 a carat minimum where these are retailing for less than a quarter of that price.

For better or worse, diamonds that are desirable in jewelry command a higher price if they are mined. Whether a company markets their diamonds as 'synthetic' or 'cultured', it all means the same thing; that is, 'not mined'.
