I thought about a week ago that the whole Jeremy Lin train would soon die out. Here's a guy who's 4th string point guard to come off the bench, and now he's causing a cosmic media storm in all of sports. Never be surprise when it's your time and calling, always be prepare! Great video, shows the "process" needed to aspire to higher levels than average. I've been watching the whole LINsanity thing unfold and I must say, it makes for great viewing ... reality TV that is TRUE reality TV.

His story serves as a perfect fastlane example. People who aren't aware of the hard work that it takes to be as good as he is, just assume that he got lucky. While luck is involved in all great success stories to a certain extent, it wouldn't have done Jeremy Lin any good if he hadn't been prepared to take advantage of the opportunity once it arrived.

That video showing him training hard months ago is a perfect example; as back then barely anyone knew him and yet he still put in the hours necessary to be an elite athlete. That's the part that most people don't want to do; the hard work before you make it, as there are no rewards at that point; the rewards only come later when you get your chance.

Tom Brady also had a similar story. He was drafted in the 6th round of the NFL draft and didn't even play during his rookie year. The only reason why he got a chance to start is because the starting QB Drew Bledsoe got injured. But, because Brady had been putting in the hard work before that point, he was able to take advantage of the opportunity just like Jeremy Lin did:

I couldn't agree more.

When we see a person reach the stage or pinnacle of success, we only cherish in their victory and embrace the heroics. Seldom, we ever see their struggles, hard work, blood, sweat, and tears to get there. I'm glad we can marvel in Jeremy Lin's success as a true underdog story. He's humble and sleeping on his brother's couch; just hope he don't end up a sidewalker and waste all his money on lavish expenses.

I don't think anyone ever gets anywhere without hard work. Even truly gifted athletes have to work to become the best. Some have the gifts to get into the pros and maybe even be a good pro, but to be the best they work hard at it. Some may act like they don't but they do. You can tell the ones who don't work hard. They never last.
