22.00 for a Diet Coke.....wow!
a coke in a regular supermarket is less than 1 dollar
I have the impression some people didnt get the idea of this post
this is " how to make money from rich dumb people..."
or how to rob rich people legally:
1- brand your company as VIP and JETSET
2- increase the prices as much as possible
3- let the dumb rich people enter there and get them thinking spending money is actually cool
4- make filthy amounts
This is actually how alot of premium company's operate, yatchs , diamonds, gold watchs... etc.
considering the exchange rate, the diet coke is about $6 usd. compared to what you would pay at a amusement park or concert, it is not that unimaginable that at some overpriced like us because we are trendy and stars visit us type place that $6 usd would be charged.
Not seeing what makes them dumb.
Do they really care about $22 for a coke? If they can afford a $100K+ for a single night out, more power to them.
It's just like at any movie theatre/event. The food and clothing are ridiculously over priced when compared to other places. Does that make one dumb if they decide to purchase it? Not likely, unless the purchase puts them into debt. I doubt $22/coke will break the bank for these people.
I wonder how these people became so rich that they can spend money like that and it doesn't affect them one bit. I'm sure it wasn't from being dumb.
people need to stop sucking rich people ..... (something)
rich people arent better just because they have money
money doesnt give u brains !!!!
in this case the guy that payed, was born in a very rich family and thats it!!!
in the end of the night he just swallow is pride and payed the (overpriced) bill like a B
what is being discussed in this case in the ROI of this Biz, more power to cavali and other premium companys for robing rich people senseless!!!
its a great biz modelhahahahhahahaha
Its supply and demand. You can't open up a simple club and mingle the rich people with the poor. Exclusivity sells and Cavalli created a brand for the rich so that the rich and come there and network with others who are just as rich. It's a niche built on exclusivity and branding. In other words, perceived value sells.
Black pearls were sold this way when they were put on display in high end jewelry stores. Initially, there was no demand. When more and more people saw that they were being displayed beside other expensive adornments, there was a demand for those. Marketing sells. As mentioned by Kevin Hogan from "The Science of Influence", humans can only relate with existing prices. Since the rich can spend for VIP treatment, they do not go by the price. Especially if you are worth $400 million, you won't care about the $100,000 you spent on one night. That's chump change.
Regardless of how you spin it, if you pay that much on soda and alcohol and it isn't giving you superpowers you're a fucking idiot.

Is that what makes someone "dumb?"
Doing something that you don't think you would do?
Just being frank. Someone mentioned they don't see how it's dumb. I think spending 100k+ on that bill is stupid in and of itself. Whether you can afford it or not doesn't change the fact that it's stupid.
I'm sure they don't. However, those things cost a fraction of the money outside of that bar. They pay that price ONLY because it's physically being sold in that bar.
Whether someone can afford it or not is not the point. If you don't see some stupidity in that, I'm fine agreeing to disagree.
Spending that much money at a club is dumb no matter how much money you have. People seem to give a rich people a free pass on stupidity. You don't know how these people got rich. Not everyone needs to be smart to be rich.
I still don't see how it's "stupid"? What's 100k at the bar if it makes you a mill or two down the line with the connections you make / re-enforce. I think it's only stupid if you have a collectors mindset when it comes to money.

Playing devil's advocate here - What if the person that payed the 400k bill was wining and dining a potential client and ended up signing a 3m deal with him. Would he still be dumb for spending the 400k to get the 3m?
Edit: Looks like 77startup beat me to saying the same thing.![]()
