Probably, but more so because you're 30 years old.
New addition to my ignore list.
Back to work for me![]()
True. Age is something is something that is earned and is a poor measurement of character. In the same context, One could say someone who is 19 could hardly understand what it means to be a "hustler".
My initial post was to fortify your definition of a hustler as someone who is in positive respects as modern society shuns the hustler as someone who takes advantage of those who are simple minded. I was confused by your remarks and your offense to my comments. I was merely trying to expand on your idea and give it some insight.
The fact you would ignore me and not have a healthy discussion about the art of hustling,(I do live in the ghetto.) shows me you have still some growing to do since even from people you disagree with, there is knowledge to be found. I wish nothing but the best in your endeavors and know better to get in a bickering battle on a forum with someone as established as you. Though you have already ignored me, I doubt this post will find you but I hope its message you reach you in good regards in due time.
Another $100 profit. Person is coming by in a few minutes.
Another tip, is that you generally do not want to deal with people under 18. 95% of the time they say 'oh that's crazy I'm not paying that much' or something similar even though I only list things at fair market value (ie what the market has determined them to be worth).
I seem to by far get my best deals with people aged 20+ (oldest person so far was probably in their 60s and I had no problem with them either)
Young people generally don't have much money to begin with, and even if they do, they aren't willing to pay up.
Wish i had 16k 2009 Honda Accord Cpe 22K This car would sell for 20+
Start off by figuring out how you can take $160 and turn it into $200.
Really the figures and size of the deals don't matter. Just start.
Wishing will get you nowhere, but by actively pursuing your goal(s) you'll get to the point where you can flip a car for $4K.

No i understand and I am I was looking for deals for an hour ( found some) before i saw that one at the end of the search.
Cool, let me know when you complete your first. Curious as to what it'll be.
Of this whole thread this is one of the few parts I read (I'll reread it tomorrow when I'm more awake). But that is exactly what I did. Well, I didn't do it to start. I wanted a sports car which I bought at a price I can resell it for more come spring. I'm going to put it up for sale and if I make money, I win..if I keep it, I win. I love my car, took me years to find a good deal on one I wanted, but its just a car and a lot out there. It is easier to acquire a car then money.I also bought a bunch of parts for it encase I keep it but if I sell it, I will sell the parts. When I bought them all I got them all on sale or used to the point I could make a lot of money on the parts alone, I already did on some I decided to sell anyways.
Also, the first thread I read here when I joined after I read tmf was the $100 craigslist thread. And I said I was going to try it. I have never sold anything in my life on ebay or craigslist but I am going to. I have spent the last week searching for items to buy on CL but I haven't found anything where I could make real margin...yet. I have been basically searching for iPads. My excuse has been, "why spend $300 to make $350?" So I then started seaching for cars (yes, Hondas). What i need to get over and realize is that, as MJ said, you have to make $50 before you can make $5,000. So, I am going to make this fun, and there is nothing more fun than making $$$. Ill be back this week (tomorrow hopefully) with where I am and what I have purchased to sell...looking forward to it.

Nearly 600 views in less than 24 hours. Yikes!
So the first goal with this project is $10,000 unencumbered cash by June 1st 2012. (That'll be just before a new semester). I'd be really pleased with that result.
Made a few more acquisitions and sales today, currently have 11 listings up.
Cash on Hand: $245
Inventory: $960
Total: $1,205
**and 'Sky' the purpose of my '...ok?' post was a poor attempt (my fault) at trying to say: 'The definition/interpretation of the word 'hustler' really doesn't matter to me. In the context of this thread, I only care about making money.' The word 'hustler' is irrelevant and I don't want to discuss semantics, when making money is the goal.

Well you are doing way better than me. I think I must be surrounded by hustlers in TX because I have only managed to pick up a generator, an iphone, a shi++y car(sold for a $50 profit), and a digital camera in a months time.
I have a question.
Would you say that raiding thrift shops for used handbags, jackets, etc. is time-efficient compared to looking for deals (with albeit smaller margins) on eBay or Craigslist? Thanks.
Hopefully someone who's doing that can provide some insight.
I have some friends that do the thrift shop flips. Takes them a few hours to go through the whole store... It takes me 10 minutes to find deals online. I don't deal with clothing though.
Naturally almost anything online is more efficient if you're short on time.
How many of your sales are X-mas related? Like as in gifts, and if so are you going to stop buying at some point not to get stuck with product come January..
I think you are doing great, congrats...

Is this like garage saleing on the internet? My neighbor does that. She hits every garage sale in the city and then brings stuff back and sells it at her own garage sale for a higher price. This model probably is more cost effective.
Hmm, haven't thought of that, but I'd say not many. I've had a few people mention that they were buying things as gifts for their kids (the people that bought games). I'd say 25% are gift purchases, and that's being generous at best.
The fact that I started this in December was purely coincidence, and I plan on continuing long after the holidays are over, so I'm going to keep buying at every opportunity that would give me a healthy profit.
I just sold a GPS device to a professional paraglider (lol) for a $75 profit. Time to go deliver it![]()
