Thread: Prototype development

For those of you who have developed a physical product how did you go about getting a prototype developed? Did you build it yourself or have someone create it for you? If you had someone create it for you, how did you go about finding that resource?

I built my own prototype out of basic materials from home depot but mine was pretty simple. I also built a few more prototypes for future products out of anything I could get my hands on that would do the trick. Stephen Key's book "One Simple Idea", has a whole chapter dedicated to building prototypes. Check it out. I've also seen other books out there that focused just on building a prototype. Just get creative! It doesn't have to be exact, as long as it get the point across.
