    Default TV Shows

Are there any programs on TV that you guys recommend a young entrepreneur should watch? I'm just trying to keep myself focused on making money so I'm trying to surround myself with as many insightful things as possible. Even if I just DVR these programs and watch them while I'm laying in bed before I fall asleep...there's gotta be some helpful stuff out there right?

Although there are a lot of "don'ts" in the way the entrepreneurs pitch their products/services, but still great for learning

Keep 'em coming as I still need to change my TV habits, although I've cut out the ESPN and most sports related TV I still haven't replaced it with enough "productive" shows- now it's House, 24, whatever movie is on the basic channels, Family Guy, etc

I can suggest you not what to watch, my favorite line from Gary (from WineLibraryTV), "Stop Fucking Watching Lost."

I agree with Bob, heard good things from Dragon's Den (Dragons' Den | CBC Television).

And to vr4playa, I totally understand where you are coming from. I used to watch a lot of Sportscenter and CNN in college. Ever since I moved into my new home, I have not set up cable solely because I know I would waste a lot of time watching TV. One of the best decisions I have ever made, not getting cable haha, Reading > TV.

5 part series on how the dragons made their money. GREAT to watch. Might be on DVD, but if you know a bit about finding TV shows online you should be able to find them.

Checks are the most boring purchase you'll ever make for your small business, but if you buy them from your bank, you're paying way too much. Order business checks online and save up to 75% off of bank prices.

Did anyone catch "Trial By Fire"?

I know there was a thread on it and I'm not sure whether the History Channel picked it up or not(probably not ), but it looked like a great idea for a show from a guy with plenty of great ideas- Tim "4 Hour Workweek" Ferriss

As far as Big Idea, I tried to get into it, but caught it during election/bailout time and it was too political and preachy for me, with those great financial "experts" that MJ loves so much who instead of dispensing advice and critique were just laying into all the po'd small biz owners and "average joes" who called in to complain... now if it was about pitching ideas and getting feedback as I expected(with the name "The Big Idea") then it'd be worth watching

    We Mean Business on A&E

Its a fun show about Bill Rancic (the first season winner of Apprentice) who goes into small businesses and helps them figure out their problems. If you can get past the insane amounts of product placement, it's a pretty fun show. Obviously they don't show all the problems in a 30 minute edited segment, but there are some interesting nuggets in there.

One more (I know you folks will scoff at this) is Survivor. Even with all the editing, I think it is an excellent look of how personalities respond to different situations. When you put people under that much duress, eventually their social controls breakdown and you can see how people truly feel towards certain issues. I find you can learn a lot about how to deal with people and their issues from this show.

On a similar note, and I am being serious, another show good for that is VH1's Pick-up Artist. Though SteveO is currently in a lawsuit with them for stealing all his moves.

I love the Pick-up Artist. The guy on the show Mystery seems really cool and does seem to have all the moves even though he dresses a little odd. I wish this guy was around when I was single.

I don't watch much TV, and I find all the flipping shows on TV kind of boring. But the one with Richard from the Carolina's is quite good, they know what there doing. The others I just find myself picking apart lost amatures spending way to much on these things.

Anyway I love the early seasons of the Apprentice. You got to see some very high quality professionals in action.
