Unhappy I am being criticized for not following slowlane!

I am being laughed at for not following typical slowlane. My family thinks that, I should really get a normal paying job which will pay bills. In my heart, I know.. I want something better for me and my family. But they don't seems to understand it. So I guess I will have to follow slowlane to make them happy (For Now ). Anyone has also experience same thing? Has anyone break through it and became successful and made their family look stupid? How was the feeling and reaction from people who thought you will never make it.

Most of us entrepreneur types experience the same level of expectancy from our family members as yourself, the best thing you can do to justify your beliefs to them(that might not be enough though, depends on how stubborn they are) is through action, use it as motivation to push yourself further.

Always be an optimist with everything, look for silver linings in seemingly bad situations.

EXCUSES, you don't want it bad enough! Since you came here, you have been looking for an excuse to quit, now you found one, are you going to accept mediocrity in your life just to please your dumb parents?

99% of us have experienced this, there's an easy 2 step solution

    1) Don't push the fastlane ideals on them, they don't want to hear it

    2) You have to want it bad enough to put yourself first, excuse my french but stop being a pussy

For better or worse, if you're that easily sold into the slowlane, it's likely that you belong there.

This is an interesting scenario right? Your family sees something in you (or a lack of something in you) that indicates to them that you're not cut out for "it", and...

    a) maybe they are wrong or
    b) maybe they are right

So, you go to an internet forum full of strangers... seeking support and validation, and of course some of the members who are inclined to be kind/supportive and that kind of hoohah will, not knowing you and being unfamiliar with you, give you the benefit of the doubt and try to buck you up or provide guidance, each in their own way.

After a while, the forum full of strangers can also get a sense of whether or not your family are right or wrong. I'm sorry but I have to say in this case I get the strong sense that b) your family may be right.

If you can't even get past your own (and you families) own doubts, how will you get past more difficult issues in the business world?

Maybe you aren't cutout for the fastlane life, if you disagree, prove me wrong

To elaborate a bit more sandeep, and then I'll leave you alone to your life (ps. there's nothing wrong with working a job and making money enough to pay the bills)... you might want to start asking different questions. The kinds of questions you're seeking answers to aren't questions that make any sense and the answers wouldn't help you anyway (assuming that you're even interested in listening to the answers, that's a big assumption).

I'm talking about these kinds of questions you've asked, which are still bouncing around my brain making my head hurt: "Has anyone else ever felt scared to start a business?" "Has anyone else ever started a business alone without a partner?" "Has anyone else ever felt what it's like to lack support from the family?" "Has anyone else ever been successful? What did that feel like?" People like to say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but come on...

Finding the "answer" to this question: "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?" would be just as likely to help you, I think.

You better not being using, "I'm a fastlaner so I don't need to work!" when you're sitting on your butt doing nothing except being a loser.

You know what? My family was against it as well! Did this stop me from doing it? HELL NO now i wanted to prove them all wrong... i was so motivated by the rejection, it gave me a lot of energy and motivation and it still does today when facing rejection.

Some people get motivated by rejection, some people give up because of rejection.
You are better in the first group of people!

Lol, this was his post from a week ago, clearly an event based "feel good" post because massive action is not giving up at the first slight breeze in the wind.

I've highlighted all the dumb in your post.

Notice the lack of individuality? The lack of personal choice?

All you care about is what others think of you. You're afraid of what THEY will think, you need to do what THEY want you to do, you want to make THEM look stupid.

How about YOU do what YOU want to do, and worry about what YOU think for a change?

I'm here because I want to be here. Because I want to be successful. Because I believe in myself. Because I don't believe anyone else is as better at choosing my future than ME.

Trust me, once you start being your own person people quickly start getting out of your way and/or accepting it. Until you are your own person there isn't a DAMN bit of advice on this planet that will help you.

WHY THE HELL are you taking advice from your parents? You know why they don't get it? Because they are in the slowlane. If your parents aren't entrepreneurs then how do you expect them to understand where you're coming from?

On the flip side of that you've got a forum full of people that are taking the risk and taking the leap repeatedly making sure you understand you're making a mistake by giving up your future to your parents.

You should never take advice from anyone you don't want to switch places with. So my question is: Do you want to be like your parents are 20 years from now, or like the men and women here that are effecting other peoples lives?

I've been there, my parents didn't understand, and if I listened to them I'd be a lawyer locked into the slow lane with the goal of making 'partner'. Get off your ass and do something worth talking about rather than talking about doing nothing.

Your parents will be proud as soon as they see you created something on your own. Regardless of failure or what they say now.
