The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer. – Nolan Bushnell

I don't like this new years, arbitrary number BS. Really? You are going to wait until a number changes on a calendar to make some improvement on your life?

I am sorry, but people who think this way will probably never achieve their goals and will no doubt break their little resolutions.

If you know of an improvement on your life but want to wait until some special date to start, you are only fooling yourself.

Not calling you out sean, just how I feel.

    Kak,

Always find enjoyment reading your responses and was actually going to friend request you this morning. I feel the same exact way (for the most part). A new year shouldn't be required to get things moving, but i believe it does help lay out a makeshift plan. I know, for me personally, that during 2013 I have listed several things I'd like to accomplish with my business. However, I laugh at the people who say "Starting January 1st I'm going to start my diet, exercise daily, start a business, make friends, etc" hahaha

I want to get my product into at least one new retail location every week. As the year progresses I will get sales help to bump that number to five new locations every week.

That seems like a great goal. May be quite difficult though. Would you mind sharing your product?

And it also affects your business from a tax-planning perspective. You can buy equipment with some deductions, you can invest in certain things and not in others, etc, etc, etc.

How are you gonna get there?
How are you gonna get those new clients, or get your repeated clients to buy more?
Are you going to track your progress by day, week, month, quarter? Compare to the same period from 2012 and other previous years?

Wow, this is a very aggressive goal!
How are you going to find these new stores and get them to agree to take your product?

Would it make sense to work with just a few retailers and see how to increase volume?

Hahah I'm sorry I'm sorry! I'm aiming to double last years gross revenues for my landscaping business and then sell it off for a respectable sum. I also have a new product in the works for gym-goers. Hoping to have a prosperous 2013 and meet a lot of like-minded people along the way.

I'm a babe in the woods as far as working with retailers, so I'm not sure what an aggressive target is. Maybe I've got an advantage not knowing this is hard!

I've spoken with three distributors and two retail locations about my product, and they really dig it. There's nothing like it out there. It's easy to copy, so NDA's and provisional patents are the order of the day. I'm sourcing labeling with my logo with the ™, also stating "Pat. Pend." to snuff any legitimate copycats and want to get that in place before I start selling.

My manufacturer has offered to give me a database of retail locations to help me out. The more I sell, the more he makes. Everyone's happy!

This stays close to the vest for now. I will probably open up about it on the inside after a few months, but no promises.

Save up enough cash to setup a 500 to 1000 sqft office in New Delhi next year to further expand my web design & mobile apps business. Will be hiring my first employees too!

    * save up 25K by the end of this year (this is new money I made this year) I want to hit this sooner though!

    * get a place up, and people renting it by end of March, 2013.

    * become/maintain 115-125 lbs. (bmi of 18-19) Whatever I look best at.

    * get my college degree nearly done... going to keep chipping at this until it's over with. Needs to be done by August, 2014 at the latest. (and I realize this doesn't make me rich, but it will make me happier... and then I'll feel like I'm free)

    * have a fastlane project (like my book) that will be done by August 2014.

that's all I have for this year, and nothing is really set in stone. It's just a mental map. Last year goal was just progress lol.

I want to have more savings for investment! Sell more and earn more!

Since I already started our mini business last January as a test, I am now in the process of getting more raw materials, make stocks and sell them out through online marketing.
