I have had this idea for a while. I would love to see a reality show where you take 3 ordinary people that have never owned a business or are fledgling business owners. Each contestant has to choose from a list of approved industries a business to start. Take a group of 15 self made multi millionaires all around the same net worth (non celebrity) and through some process allow each contestant to select a group of 5 advisers from the 15. The game's objective is for your business to reach 1 million dollars gross sales before the season ends. They have to meet certain financial benchmarks before they can consult with their advisers. All three start with a beginning budget of $100K, if all three reach 1 million in sales or 2 get there at the same time the winner will be determined by net % profit. The advisers can only offer advice (no resources) by answering a set amount of questions weekly. Certain kinds of questions would be off limits.
To make this interesting and realistic, each contestant has access to the competitions weekly numbers. Unless....you win a blind week which allows you to keep your numbers hidden or you can falsify what you show the others (for psychological impact) for one week just like in the real world. You can throw in wild card challenge bonuses (like fund raiser contest) where if you complete the business challenge you can have an extra meeting with your team of advisers or deny someone else their weekly consultation with their advisers. If you miss it it cost you like 5k from your pot. This represents opportunities and risk in real business. Some work. Some don't. But you learn from them. The winner wins seed money for a business, equipment, marketing and exposure along with a year of free consultation from a top consulting firm. I know there is much to be thought out but this would be a great window into how a business grows and how good and bad decisions affect growth. Just wanted to share this with yall. Don't laugh too hard I have an overactive imagination and I love watching stuff like this just an idea but far from complete.
Better than the apprentice.
