That is one great lesson. Always check the bank accounts yourself and verify where the money has gone. The bank accounts is really the only place you have to check the money flow. Unless people get paid in cash that is and the money flow is not recorded.

I hired salespeople, but they couldn't sell anything. I told my wife, "I might just do it myself."

I can really relate. It is hard finding people who can genuinly sell. Many people are such a scared bunch. They give up pretty soon and they are not good at pushing their point. No promotion skills what so ever. In order to sell your stuff you really need to believe in what you are saying so much that it becomes your reality. Otherwise few other will follow your lead. This guy had it nailed down.
