I was fortunate enough for my mother to take me to many of the countries that she visited in her life time. I was quite in for the culture shock especially since I had lived in the US for my entire life. The first country that I visited that was really different from the rest was Egypt.
We went to Egypt in July 2007 for 8 days. During those 8 days, we visited almost every major city along the Nile River. The theme was a "Nile River Cruise." We bought the trip from a travel agency in Poland. Here are some pics that will motivate us more to get on the Fastlane so we can visit these exotic places.
Picture Descriptions-
#1- This is the Red Sea taken from our hotel beach in Hurghada, Egypt. The water temp is a solid 70 degrees.
#2- Same location, just a different angle.
#3- The Great Pyramids taken from our hotel balcony, early in the morning.
#4- This is the Muhammad Ali (Not the boxer) mosque. The architecture inside and out is amazing but in order to see the inside, you got to go yourself.
#5- The Great Pyramids again with 3 Egyptian Ferraris as I was told by one Egyptian.![]()
#6- The entrance to the middle pyramid at the base of the pyramid. I do have pictures of the inside, but again you have to go visit to see for yourself. Be warned: Not for the claustrophobic.
#7- The Sphinx and the Pyramid. You can thank Napoleon for the missing nose.
#8- Sunset on the Nile. If you were wondering, there are no Nile Crocodiles in the Nile. They are all held down stream in a reserve to protect them and us. I was disappointed because I wanted to see a croc.
#9- Literally Hell on the Earth. The Valley of the Kings. We were there at 6 AM and temperature was already a cool 98 degrees. The expected temperature at noon was 115 degrees. You are able to enter many of the tombs, but some require some serious elevation walking.
