Default The Secret to Wealth ...

Kinda of spinoff of my Doing What You Love rants, but put into the perspective of a village viewpoint -- an analogy that makes a little more sense.

Great video MJ, I enjoyed this one. And youre right, the whole "village" concept definitely helps put things in perspective.

Dont be deterred by competition, IF you can do things better.

With all due respect (and that's a LOT of respect ) you're being kind of hard on the mentioned concepts:
-passion is a very strong motivator. (For instance, I think you're really passionate about business education; it really shows through your forum posts, videos, and book) However, I DO agree it's not a good enough reason to go into business; but there's usually a way to be top 10% in every field.
-lifestyle design is trading money for time + maximizing the utility of money (which looks like a fastlane concept),
-law of attraction is just another form of faith. (I don't believe in it but to each his own religion)

I think your video is really great though; it explains the concept of value & market needs extremely well.

I think you make good points...

Passion is great and I think it is best leveraged in a generalized fashion ... not wanting to wake to an alarm clock is a great motivator (passion) ... any passion worthy of putting you to a course of action is valuable. Faith / LOA is also great -- you are describing tools in a toolbox that will help you *build* -- I'm talking about building a foundation made of concrete.

I agree with your statement on passion. I know all to many who have passion to do this or do that but lack what it takes to put that passion into action.

I do have to disagree with views on the law of attraction, even with MJ. Long before "the secret" came out which most of us know is about the law of attraction I was already using this "law" in my life and didn't even know it. It wasn't until i saw the movie that things made more sense to me. I'm not saying it will make you rich but it can, does and will give you exactly what you need if you put it out there and if you know how to use it. Most people don't know how to use it or they abuse it and then wonder why its not working and then dismiss it as another BS way for people to make money by getting you to buy the book or watch the movie. The funny thing is the law of attraction is working 24/7 all around everyone and everything, you just need to know how to use it.

All my life I've seen faith taught the wrong way. When I was pentecostal, so many years ago, there were people that taught having faith would cause god to make changes. What they often failed to point out were the numerous examples of how faith alone never succeeded. The one with faith always had to act on that faith, never did they succeed by simply believing in, or asking for a result.

The law of attraction is the newest misguided use of faith I've been exposed to, and admittedly I haven't read any books, just had the pleasure of having so many people harp it's benefit, plus wikipedia has a paragraph I can use to shape this message.
It's painful for me to watch people cite a very powerful way of thinking, that like will attract like, and then proceed to completely miss the assignment! This is the very quintessence of being success minded! If you think in the form of solutions, you will find solutions. If you are problem oriented, you will find problems. You can use both manner of thinking together to powerful effect!

But that alone has been perverted into some bastardized think positive propaganda. There is no more power in thinking "I am rich." than there is in thinking "I am poor." While I agree each thought will spawn similar lines of thinking, and will influence your mood and focus in a certain way, neither one will influence you towards any sort of action. In fact, in this case, thinking "I am poor." is the more powerful line of thinking, because it provides something for you to solve in the first place.
Even if a thought is goal oriented, it still has no power to truly create results. "I will make more money". Great. What influence does that have on your mind? I'd be willing to bet it generates fantasies about what you will do with the money, how life will change and improve. "I will make more money, so I will be able to go to more movies. I will be able to drive a better car. With more money, I will have nicer clothes."
Like will attract like, as you can see! By thinking in the form of goals, you will direct yourself to have more goals. Useful, but a tangible result it will not make.

It shouldn't be too hard to guess that when the above is intermingled with the message that faith without action brings results, I will be quick and sharp with my disagreement. I will grant you that it may influence circumstances for you to take the actions necessary, but realize that all results must be ground in someones work. Your results must be ground in the work you do!

As a final note to drive these points home: Faith did not write the above. However, faith may have lead you to seek out a situation that may help you achieve what you have faith in. Your line of thinking, "I'm going to read what millionaires, and those wanting to become them have to say." may have also lead you to this situation, because it has influenced your decisions. Neither will cause money to rain from the sky, and both will rely on you to decide if this message holds truth.
Automation is important. This is an automated disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, all advice is opinion, and I will not be held accountable for other peoples stupidity.
