Wow, doing a video is much easier than writing a long blog ...

I might start doing these over blogging.

So here's the article ...

If you want to avoid entrepreneurial failure and succeed, you have to recognize the long roadtrip ahead goes through a “Desert of Desertion†— expect this, recognize it, get through it, and your chances to succeed a Fastlane explode.

How to Live Entrepreneurial Success: Beware of the Desert-of-Desertion | Fastlane Entrepreneurs

As always, if you like plz retweet, share, or comment.

Also, this concept was something that was edited out of my book due to space constraints -- so you won't find it in there!

If I have an idea that is already being done well, that just proves to me that it's a good idea and I need to find a way to do it even better.

Wow! The video was great. It gives a personality to the text. Thanks from me, and I'm sure many others.

Ah, what an insightful way to explain that little plight!
I don't know if anyone needs to be warned about them, but you'll come across tricky thoughts. Like mirages in the desert. They're all so tempting. Such as promising the comfort of an (eternal) vacation in your mental hotel,"I'll do it when the timing is right!"
Or perhaps your thoughts are something more like an oasis. Sweet water and shade keep you comfortable and content, "I don't need to go through with this... I'm happy with where I am now! I could ruin my happiness by going forward!"
But you know what? Get lost in a mirage and you'll pass away while deluding yourself. Stay in an oasis and you grow too weak from hunger to have the strength to leave it.

On a more personal note, I wonder if I'm starting to exit that desert for this project. It's getting to the point where if I procrastinate too long, or I don't get any real chance to do anything, it feels like I've given up. The feeling causes a sharp, palpable sense of despair...

P.S. It was pretty interesting to see the video. I still like text, but it's sort of satisfying to put a voice along with the face along with the tone (both voice and expressions).

Definitely! I feel like I know him much better now that I've watched that video. Before, he was just a random face and a username; but watching him and hearing him speak makes his message much more meaningful. He also didn't come across as reading something he had written which is good; it's distracting when I know a speaker is reading while pretending not to by placing the text next to the camera as if to fool us.

MJ thanks for posting the video. It's great to see you on video. I received your book "The Millionaire Fast Lane" a few day ago and now since I've seem you on the video, it ties it all together in a wonderful way. Your book is amazing so far and I look forward reading it everyday! I've went through the Desert of Desertion you mentioned in the video many times. In fact I'm experiencing it right now. But after watching your video, well it gave me just what I needed.

I hope you do more videos. That one made me feel as I was sitting right there in your office.

Wow, doing a video is much easier than writing a long blog ...

I might start doing these over blogging.

Videos probably get more attention and are shared more too. It's also easier for the viewer...we can just sit back and listen/watch attentively or listen on the go with our phones.

I was watching several of your videos a few days ago (some for the 2nd time; I watched your videos before getting on the forum or reading your book BTW...so also great for marketing!) and I wanted to let you know that you should do more. So here's my shot...please do more videos! Hahaha :D

Good stuff MJ!

When I first saw your stuff I checked out all your vids. My initial thought was, "if he does that more, it would provide something... really nice".
The thing I wanna share with you is that if you DO find these easier than blogging, I hope you consider it.

Basically to get a clean background is you need two light sources for two different areas.
One for you, and one to overexpose the background.

And if you really want, you can get a little foundation from your local makeup shop (just tell the girls you want some foundation for when doing a video, and ask them how to use it etc)

All in all, for less than a few hundred bucks, you can have those vlogs looking CLEAN as anything and it might make you feel that they are more worthwile doing (they take about as much effort as a blog but maybe you can use it as a tool for certain "points" that are better expressed face to face rather than over text).

Just something to think about.

Additional:
That desert was horrible. I do not recommend. ;)

However... you are moving from "student" to "independant", and those growing pains hurt but are innevitable.
They linger around you and aren't in your control or anyone elses, so try not to compensate TOO heavily by doing stuff that isn't thought out. Let the pain help you think.

Try not to get too traumatised, and control the bitterness, sweeten it as you start getting to the end.

For me, coming out the other side (nowish) I can tell you that it is NICE finally sitting back, eating great food, not worrying about rent, or costs for travelling, and commanding your own schedule and looking at your own thoughts as a biz shaping into form.

The END is pretty nice, and it lets you recover a bit. But man did it suck! You'll be really good when its done because you will be 100% on the biz path after.
