    Smile Blowing $40k

    Hello,

Been a part of this community a short time, yet I thought I share this here.

A couple of times in my life I have received large chunks of money.
    For xyz reasons (nothing illegal).

Being immature and thinking like a poor person (slow lane), I blew it all.

    In what?
    God knows.
Stuff that poor people blow their money in.
Fancy restaurants... crap I didn't need... pay for stuff I shouldn't have paid... etc.

It is curious, because right now, I would chop off an arm and a leg (not literally) for these amounts of money.

The attached image shows my account balance from approximately 2003 to 2008.
It has a peak of 44.8 thousand dollars, yet I wonder, because one of the 'chunks of money' I received was a check for $55,000
    And I blew it.

    Sad?
    Not at all.
    Glad?
    Not at all.

Yet I have now instructed my self.
    Now I know more.
There are TONS of information and lessons I am still to learn.

Yet I go full speed forward... the companies I am creating at the moment will render fruits... fruits much bigger than those blown 55 grand.

Would I want the money back?
    HA! In a second.

    Yet, you know what?
Screw it... we go forward... we make more money.
It happened at that time in my life for a reason.

Hope you all enjoy my single-ridge rollercoaster ride.
I will share my future rides with everyone here... and I promise that they will be much bigger monetary amounts, and the falls will not be... actual fall-and-stay-downs.

Thanks to everyone on these forums for everything you've contributed!

Best to all, and full speed ahead!

    -- AJ

So, you can't save money. Well that is this generation now isn't it? Lots of peple are in the same boat as you. They get a few bucks and blow it. If you can trane yourself great if not don't worry because there is another way. Find a business where you get rich spending money! for instance real estate. With $55,000 you could buy a property that generates income or you could use that same $55,000 for down money and buy more than one property that all generate income. You could take that $55,000 and buy a franchise or make a franchise. Still you would be throwing the money away but you would be throwing it toward something, namely your future...
If what you did yesterday still looks big; you haven't accomplished much today!

I used to know a guy who pissed away a $160,000 settlement in about 6 weeks. One day he was quitting his job, a month and half later he came in trying to sell me his car speakers. That was pretty funny. He bought motorcycles and cocaine for himself and his friends and that was that.

Truthfully I probably would have wasted it too, I just would have taken longer to do it.

Don't worry, AJ, everyone does stupid crap. The trick is to grow from it I guess and not do it again.

I had a similar experience years ago. I blew the money. I was naive. I learned a lot about myself and why I made the poor decisions I made.

Experience truly is the best teacher.

I've had a similar situation with 100k. Just have to grow from it and learn.

You are so not alone. I think a lot of people have blown money before. The question is have you learned from it. Are you doing your research on business that will allow you financial freedom?

I always see these I blow $x and it makes me wish I had the opportunity to blow that kind of money. I am extremely fiscally conservative. I save everything and look for ways to invest/ build businesses.

I agree with M&T that is exactly what I would do. If I am going to blow my money I at least want to know I had a chance to make more.

I'm so glad the Army gave me a 10,000$ check as part of my bonus when I was 18 that I absolutely blew through. (even though I did buy a lot of things that lasted me ALONG time). I had like, 15k in my bank account at peak.

It was good to get it out of my system relatively young.

    Good judgement comes from experience.

    Experience comes from poor judgement.

Me too. I blew about $2000 on affiliate marketing and then $1500 on a coaching bootcamp which helped me but was not needed at the moment. I also blew $11,000 on tuition for technical school and $1400 on rent, security deposit, etc. which I did not stay fully to take advantage of. It does not sound like much but when you are not on the making side, almost everything sounds like a lot.

Some millionaires don't feel as bad losing millions cause they know they can make it back. They have that drive, but mostly experience to validate their beliefs. Take Donald Trump for example. He is in so much debt even now that in a way, he is like USA. He simply pays the interest and the minimum amount and goes on. He is in the same position as us but he does it at a much bigger scale.

I had the same expierence. It has cost me a year and a bit more to blew 50k. I have a bit left.
I bought myself cloths, a car, two guitars I never seem to use, a new television, a washdryer and all kinds of stuff.

One big thing I learned from it is to NEVER impress. Never do stuff to impress others. In a way, I did. I wanted to live that life where I could take my girl to a nice restaurant. We always splitted the bill, but still.

I wanted to live a life to impress myself and others. Never going that road again.
If I had it now, I would invest in myself, and really invest instead of buying shit only to look back and having no clue where the money went.

I am kind of releaved lots of other people did the same thing. It was the first time I was used to so much money. I should have informed myself what to do with it by people with knowhow. I took advice from my mom, she is a slowlaner, I love her to death but she is.
