I'm sitting in my 9-5, drinking my coffee and (not) looking forward to another mindless week, selling my time for a (relative) pittance, making the executives and shareholders of this company richer, on the back of my work.

And yet, I'm sitting here with a smile on my face, and loving Mondays.

Am I just another happy ignorant employee? Yeah, right - that's not me, never again. I'm working my ass off outside hours, getting my fastlane road built, brick by yellow brick, and this morning, while it's not even 10am (in my timezone), I've already made more money from my fastlane endeavours than Im going to make selling my time in this job today.

It doesn't happen every day - yet - but it's little glimpses of what can be (what WILL be) that keep me going, especially when things aren't quite going right, when it seems like it's so much work and effort and yet nothing's happening. When everything seems to be a standstill, and not going right...

So I love Mondays - and I hope you're loving yours. And if not, why not? Get cracking. If I can do this working a full time job, at 37 years of age, with 2 kids, a big mortgage, and various other "excuses" - then you can bet your sweet potato that you can do it too.

All the best.

I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I've seen a lot of the threads from fastlane members who feel that college is not worth the investment. The author is the former Secretary of Education under Reagan. He mentions something that I have seen a lot throughout the debates on this topic here on the forums- that anybody can get a better education free from the internet today than most universities provide, things like that.

If you're somebody who already has their mind made up, this book isn't going to change anything, although it's still pretty entertaining.

However, if you're someone like me (18 year old student, beginning freshman year in the fall) then it may be pretty eye-opening to you. My original plan was to do 2 years at a local college while living at home, then transfer and do 2 years on my own at a larger university. Now it's more along the lines of 2 years locally, then going out and gaining experience in my desired field.

Anyway I'd recommend the book to anyone that's young and interested in the fastlane, but is also a bit unsure about their future.

Wannabe FAKE Entrepreneur:

1. "That shit is too hard!"

2. "What business can I start that is easy?"

3. "How do I start XYZ business with no knowledge?"

4. "That shit will take forever to start up!"

5. "I don't wanna think critically and strategically!"

6. "The solution to that problem is way too difficult to implement!"

REAL Entrepreneur:

1. "That shit is way too easy!"

2. "What business can I start that is very difficult to start?"

3. "I wanna start XYZ business because it requires a lot of skill and critical thinking"

4. "This is a good business to start because it takes a long period of uncertainty and work to get things going"

5. "This is a good business because its tests my skills to the max, its like playing chess not checkers"

6. "This is good, the solution to this problem is complicated as fuck , it will turn my hairs grey :)"

I'm writing this because a lot of my friends think like the first. Its fucken ridiculous and i'm sick of it. Your chasing money when you do that, you are looking for the event, you don't wanna do the work and break a sweat, you don't want struggle, you don't want uncertainty, you want comfort, you want immediate gratification, you want to feel good now, you don't want to go out and find solutions. And what happens when you do that? YOU fucken FAIL.

The more difficult something is, the more barriers to entry exist, the more likely you are to be a success and crush the competition and create value, its a paradox.

Part of being a REAL entrepreneur is choosing your battles wisely and going for the hardest business you can think of, the one with high barriers to entry. Not only that, but you want to CREATE BARRIERS to entry in your business that already has barriers to entry. Create barriers to entry in your processes, in your business procedures, in your business operations, create barriers to entry in YOURSELF as well, improve yourself day in and day out in anyway you can!

These guys think that just because something is easy, they can succeed and create value and make sales STFU!.:eusa_naughty:

This is also a RAVE because I admit it, i was the first, I was a wannabe entrepreneur. As FAKE as a fucken moon rock for sale online.

TMF helped me think more strategically like a real entrepreneur. It gave me a good ass whopping and saved me a lot of potential time and heartache in future failures.

The five fastlane commandments really opened my eyes and woke me up. Its like I was asleep for ten years and MJ dumped cold freezing water on me while I was asleep.

Although the five fastlane commandments are very GENERAL, deep down inside they hold VERY COMPLEX applications in the real world whose understanding is crucial to real world success.

For example.

TIME: This made me think of automation, it made me think of complex supply chain management processes. it made me think of business efficiency.

NEED: This made me think of just how complex human desires are, how people change, how complex human behaviors are and the benefits of understanding human economic needs.

Scale: This made me think of finances and accounting, complex marketing strategies. business growth mathematics and strategies as well as organizational structure.

ENTRY: SEE Above :D.

CONTROL: This made me realize that you can control something and not even own it. He who has control has the power to make or break things even if he doesn't own it! IT made me think about trust, it made me think about who I hired or who i didn't hire, it made me think about partners, it made me think about legalities.

So hopefully my post was somewhat refreshing :D.

Need you help... critique... advice...

The objective is to compete with mailchimp.

THE SELLING POINT
we are doing it two ways...
1) while mailchimp has a 1,000 free monthly email, we are offering 2,000 free email monthly.
2) we also have a proprietary technology that will group email lists to certain categories to allow business owners or marketers to create campaigns that are better suited for their list.

THE MARKETING STRATEGY
1) right now, we are doing PP and SEO
2) we are doing direct marketing, essentially emailing those who we think may have interest in email marketing

i need advice on two things:
1) you think we stand a chance against mailchimp?
2) you think the marketing strategy is enough?

here is our website: Email Marketing Services | Email Marketing Company - Emercury

As the requests what I do and how I do it are getting some more I’ve decided to start this new thread. The old joschi crossroads thread is used for my personal development as this thread will be used for my current business idea and execution. I will answer any questions as good as I can :). Any feedback would be highly appreciated so please tell me your thoughts and concerns, tell my wye my business is predestinated to fail or to success, tell me what I didn’t consider. Also tell me what you like or any questions that are related and my help you with your business.

What I am doing:
I am building a managed ecommerce Solution. Basically its nothing to fancy, I only have to program some small hacks as everything is based on worpress, woocommerce and many other related extensions.

The benefits for my customers are:
Central updates and backups
disaster recovery
use of own ssl certificates
professional server infrastructure
they only pay a monthly subscription
they don’t have to buy any plugins or services
tested plugins
200 Designs or own designs
support on any question regarding how to do something with the system or “how can I questions”
social marketing covered with some automatisation
list products on ebay
use drop shipping
Many more features…

Where I am building this service:
Currently I am building this service for Germany. Later on I would like to extend it to Austria and Switzerland. In the next steps I will cover the UK and US
As it is quite common for Germany that people don’t like to do anything themselves I will offer the following upsells via 3rd party or my services: SEO, copywriting, marketing, product care and some more.

Who are my customers:
People who like word press but don’t like the technical hassle.
Entrepreneurs who need a shop system.
Offline businesses in Germany who want (need) a good Website (as an example: Home this is the homepage of my local mechanic lol)
Someone who want to sell something online and don’t want to spend big money on useless systems
people who need some amount of support and want their back covered when it comes to technical stuff.
Small and middle business.

What I’ve learned so far:
Most thinks don’t work as expected, I have to adapt finetune and change the plan a little all the time.
Sometimes it is technical stuff sometimes other. For example: I had 2 friends who liked the idea and told me they want to work with me on this. That was 2 weeks ago… Nearly nothing happened… NEVER rely on anyone except yourself on doing stuff for your business (it’s another thing if you pay this person) most people only work for money, not for equity.
DO IT YOUR SELVE TILL YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY SOMEONE
You will come to a point where you have to spend some money. It’s a fact. Most people are scared of this. Deal with it.

Challenges to overcome:
Do all the work alone after my 9-5 ;)
Many legal stuff and issues in Germany. Besides that I will do it.
By the way, even if the system is completely in German language the Backend is completely English. So if someone wants to Beta test it in round about 4 weeks write me a message.

Questions? Ask!
It's as fastlane as it gets for being passive income. However, just like MJ suggests you have to work and educate yourself.

I'm an underwriter at a bank and am asked to analyze other bank notes for private investors. I put together a case study on the last deal I just analyzed.

Hey guys,

So I recently read a book called the No B.S. Guide To Wealth Attraction In The New Economy by Dan Kennedy. In my humble opinion, this book is in the same caliber as TMF. For those who don't know about Dan Kennedy, he is a renowned author and marketer who has helped many clients achieve financial success in the past 30 years. What Dan offers in this book is concrete actionable steps that he claims will make you a magnet for wealth. I really do recommend that everyone here read it.

Now there is one part of the book that left me scratching my head, yet the author guarantees that if you do this for 90 days, you will achieve greater wealth than you ever have before and is convinced that after doing this for 90 days, you will do this for a lifetime. Now I am as skeptical as they come, I am very logical and demand scientific research before I buy into anything, but I am willing to give this a shot just because of the credibility this author has.

Basically you do this: Open two bank accounts. One account will be a wealth account. Any amount of money that comes into your possession, you allocate anywhere between 1 to 10 percent of that amount into your wealth account. According to the author, you can not touch this money for any other reason other than building wealth (i.e investments).

Now here is the one that left me scratching my head. The author says for the second bank account, you use the same principal as in the first account, allocate anywhere between 1 to 10 percent of money that comes into your possession. Here is the kicker: You take that money and give it away to charity. According to the author, giving money away will not cause you to lose money, but the opposite. It will bring you more money!

As mentioned, the author guarantees that if you do this for 90 days, you will never go back. Like I said, this sounds hokey and weird and totally illogical but it's worth a try. Worst case, you end up saving money and doing good. You can read more about the 90 day experiment here: The 90-Day Financial Experiment That Will Put You on the Path to Wealth

Any thoughts? Am I crazy for even thinking this might work?

I am trying to recruit team members to my team on venture lab. I'm having some trouble ganing traction, so I figured this forum Here is my project:

Vision: Quickly create, distribute, and administer surveys, to collect data on the fly, from your smartphone or tablet.

Market need hypothesis This app will allow the user to go immediately from idea, to validation, to hypothesis testing, on the fly. You can begin to IMMEDIATELY start the customer development process through direct engagement.

This has many more applications, such as schools, universities, and even fun social applications. My kids have had to collect data before, and this would make it much easier than carrying around a notepad and pencil, then transcribing all the data to spreadsheets, etc. Data would be auto exportable or could be viewed on site

I can think of so many ways I'd use this. What am I missing? is there something else out there? am I overcomplicating the collection of data?

Fire away!

So I had the wonderful opportunity to meet the Co-Founder of Keurig Coffee, Chris Stevens. He also is an Angel Investor to various companies, and offered some great Fastlane advice:

1. "Identify a problem in a big market, work harder then everyone else for about five years, and then you never have to work again."

2. "If you and your business partner agree on everything, one of you isn't needed!"

3. "If your in school, dedicate a set time everyday to work on your side ventures. Think of it like an extra class."

He then proceeded to show us this fantastic video that many of you have most likely seen. He said Keurig's company culture is based on this concept.

Quickly create and administer surveys on the fly with your smartphone or tablet.
That's my vision. It fits EXACTLY with lean startup principals. The perfect way to start your customer development process.
Lets say you are out shopping/running/driving/etc, identify a market need, and the "lightbulb" goes off. I KNOW this has happend at least once to all of you.
Action is one of the Core Concepts of the lean startup. Speed of implementation is the best way to build momentum from that action, and identify if further resources should be alloted to an idea or if one should abandon the thought.
This will be a tool to assist you in making those decisions. To begin forming and testing hypotheseis. Validate on the spot. Begin bulding a database to support your ideas.
This is not a "hard" thing to build. It cant be. But I don't have the skills *yet* to create a working prototype. maybe a nice wireframe, but thats about it. I am a quick learner, but need some guidance. If you want to know more, ask!

Pitch will be live tomorrow at 1800 Central. Go to www.Techno.StartupCompanion.com to view. Password is "survey"

I'd like some feedback now so I can better prepare for any questions tomorrow. This is part of a Venture-lab.org project, but I think it will be an actual useful tool outside of the course, so I'm offering this to anyone who might want the chance.

Edit:I copied and pasted from another source, so it looks a little weird.
