Default Why Millionaires Prefer Dogs Over Cats

I'm thinking about getting a dog, too, my parents just got a cat....any dog/cat owners over here?

Dogs and millionaires have a lot in common. They are relentless opportunists (especially when it comes to rewards). They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They defend their turf. And in general, they don't like cats.

Dogs are great, both my dad and mom have one, giant schnauzer (riesenschnauzer) and collie, love them both! Definitely want to get one, too, but right now my life is too unstable for that. Man's best friend

    I hate cats. So boring.
I'm not talking about making some $400'000 a year working Wall Street, flying first class and being comfortable. I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing.

I'm no millionaire but growing up with five dogs and three cats, I can say I prefer cats.

Saying millionaires prefer cats is misleading...because im pretty sure there are more dog owners in general than cat owners.

Cats are less needy, which I really enjoy.

Sorry to hear. We had 2 put down about 3 years ago but just got another about 2 months ago. Best. Dog. Ever.

I love dogs. Grew up with boxers. Can't wait to have a place where I'm allowed to own one.

They're very expensive to maintain but very worth it.

I may get a fish for the time being, though.

Many people don't want another dog after their first dies. Are you thinking about getting a new one?

When I was 15, my family put down the family dog and they wanted me to be there. God, it was awful. I didn't do the injection but watching that was god awful.

I don't know what's worse: watching him in utter pain the week before (kidney failure), or watching him die.

After that, my family didn't want another dog for a while. I thought that I could never love another dog that much. But one day, I come home from school and find that there's a new white boxer puppy in my house. I tried my hardest not to get attached because in less than a year, I would be leaving the house.

I got attached. She's adorable and she's no longer a puppy (she's at 70 lbs or 31.8 kg) but she's always so happy to see me when I come back.

My old dog was my best pal and I still miss him to this day but this dog just reminds me of him in so many ways. It's funny.

I used to be strictly a dog person, but I guess I was biased since that's all I ever had. I now have my first cat and she is wonderful. From what I hear, she's not like most cats though, almost like a dog actually and comes when I call her, loves water, and does tricks. I like the fact we can leave for a weekend and not have to worry about her at all. Still love dogs, but I am starting to hate them only because apparently our yard is the neighborhood place to take a dump. There is crap everywhere and it pisses me the fuck off. If you are a dog owner, pick up your dog's shit, because one of these days I'm gonna snap and it's not good that I own guns....

Yet to those that said they won't be getting another dog:
I urge you to go for it.

I've had a lot of dogs in my life, since little.
    They are awesome.
    They come, and they go.

Yet I remember each and every one of them.

Sometimes I get sad when I think about the fact that they're no longer with me... yet immediately I remember something cool I did with them.
(like the last one that passed away... I got really sad for a minute some weeks ago, yet immediately remembered an awesome memory of me hanging out in the deck behind my house.
I was sitting on the railing, and she was under my feet looking up.
I started shuffling my feet back and forth on her back... and she just looked up with the most "crack-tastic" face I've ever seen.
    Good memories =)

I won't do it again... the heartbreak of putting him down took a toll on me. The cooler the dog... the harder the fall.

I like both. At one point we had three dogs and three cats in our house. One of the dogs passed away though, and another is on her last legs.

It's awful, saying goodbye to them. I still have the first pet I ever took in, a cat. She's been there with me through some of the toughest stretches of my life. The thought of some day putting her down is too much to take.

So when your little baby asks you for a puppy, will you have the heart to say no?

Pets are nothing but a money suck. When you want to travel they add headaches. They add odors to your house and your clothes and destroy more than they create.

    Sorry, don't see the appeal.

There's 1 million ways I can think of to get her an animal fix. I already promised her older brother I would buy him a German Shepherd. So… I can just bring her over there.

Haha, same could be said about kids.

I'll give you money suck but odors can be addressed and a good pet can enrich your life.

You could say the same about kids or even significant others. But we humans put ourselves through it because we enjoy the companionship and the social aspect of it.
