Default Chick fil a and Amazon. WHY?

Why on earth would you alienate people from your business? Amazon now openly supports gay marriage. Chick fil a does not. I really, seriously wasn't waiting for fast food and internet merchants to chime in and help me with my views. IMO They are both really stupid for this. Why bring hot button issues to the table when all you need to do is sell some chicken sandwiches and kindles?

I don't really care one way or another. I would continue to eat Chick Fil A if I liked it. I will also continue to order things from Amazon.

Why just openly bring in controversy? I don't care how strong anyone's views on this are, there is not place for this crap in business. Go back to arguing about taxes and regulation... BUSINESS THINGS!

So people will post on forums and give them more exposure?

Seriously I don't know but just guessing for a clue why they would do this.

Maybe they figure no one will boycott them for their stances, as you have said you wont. And perhaps some people who never have used them will actually make it a point to use them if they agree with their stance.

Before this thread gets locked/deleted due to becoming a political discussion, I'm going to just say that this is the (second) biggest problem with corporate personhood. You allow a corporation to have an 'opinion', you alienate your client base. No matter what. And that's from a business standpoint, not a political or government standpoint.

Solve needs and shut the fuck up. Keep your political/charitable donations hush-hush, and don't do them through your business. Make a non-profit and funnel them in that way. Problem. Solved.

There's a reason political discussion isn't allowed here: it simply doesn't belong on a business forum!

But does negative exposure help? I doubt it. It may drive traffic and affiliate revenue, but not physical sandwich/kindle sales.... LOL

Now... Don't get me wrong. I support their right for a company to say whatever the hell they want, but why do this to your business? It is just dumb.

I would be seriously pissed if I was a shareholder in either company. (if they were both public)

They might have had their largest single day of sales today in the history of their company. They didn't alienate their audience... fanatic left wingers didn't eat at Chik-Fil-A anyway (because the business is closed on Sundays for religious reasons.) If anything, this plays to their base. Look what happened today... and this will have a residual effect in the South (where their stores are concentrated) that may carry them for YEARS.

Dan Cathy's comments were pulled from a church and a Baptist radio interview. Personal views out of the main public domain. Nothing to do with corporate stance or policy. They were blown out of proportion. It's freedom of speech and religion and all that.

Back to business, Cathy should come out and make more comments. I bet they set a company sales record today, this week and this month at least.

J - I prefer the original, and extra pickles if I am feeling like a real thrill is in order.

In the college where my son is attending this Fall, there is a Chik-Fil-A right in their student center.

When the hype dies down, their typical customer base won't be eating there any more than they used to and the left wing people will remember. Just saying. You cant ride this wave for ever.

I love the phrase LEFT WING as it pertains to a chicken joint.

NYU had a Chick Fil A in it. It was awful.

People boycotted the hell out of it, because, you know... it's NYU.

Also, I always remove the pickles. Dammit, now I want a spicy chicken combo. Oh well.

If you are going to remove the pickles, you might as well join the damn boycott. Just when I was taking a liking to you.

The pickles get in the way of the spicy chicken goodness. You can have them.

You still have baby taste buds. Check back with me in 10 years. I will treat, and you will probably be ordering extra pickles.
