    Default Cigar Guys!

I am looking to get a couple of decent cigars to bring to a golf/business meeting overseas in a few days. I normally do not smoke, but am fine with a cigar a few times a year.

I have a really nice Cigar shop down the street and have no idea what to get. I normally buy the Romeo y Julieta brand just because it seems like a decent brand and it is what I saw them smoking last time I met with them.

Anything in particular yall would tell me to look for in the $15-30 per range?

    Thanks guys!

The proprietor there is the best one to answer your question. Tell him what you like in a cigar, what you don't like, what you want to pay, and he'll give you some solid advice.

It's his job to make sure you get exactly what you want, and a face to face conversation with the expert is your best way forward.

Great! I will probably ask him. I am not really an aficionado.

Neither am I - just a casual, occasional smoker. I'd always just go on a hunch when buying cigars, and it was always hit or miss. Usally miss. One day I decided to stop pretending to be a cigar snob and just ask the guy behind the counter. He was way helpful, knew exactly what questions to ask to help narrow it down, then offered three or four cigars that I might like. I wrote them down, and over the course of a few months tried them all. I don't have a favorite, I like them all for one reason or another, but I now have go-to cigars when I'm in the mood.

Funny - I couldn't tell you what they are, since I have to consult my list! I'm the same way with wine.

But at least you have a preference now. I just don't like the gas station junk, and I also do not like the anything flavored, they make me want to gag.

I like mild to medium bodied cigars. I really like having a cigar with a dram of Balvenie scotch. Hmm - I think I know where I'm headed after work!

I like the Don Pedro Cigars along with a Corona beer or a Mexican Coca Cola. But only once in a while after an achievement or something.

Arturo Fuente. Nice and soft for occasional cigar smokers like me. Cuban seeds. It's my go-to cigar (primarily because I don't know much about cigars). However, it will be my pleasure to smoke a cigar some late night down the road with a bunch of you from thefastlaneforum.com

I really like Montecristo whites, arturo fuente, Oliva Serie, and Rocky Patel cigars. I prefer lighter cigars with a beer (usually Corona or a Pale Ale or IPA)...lighter being the Montecristo and Rocky Patel cigars.

I smoke cigars occasionally...got interested in them several years ago. Most like a mild cigar. I like a full bodied usually. As far as brands go...A. Fuente has some good ones. Hoyo De Monterrey is good also I like the Excalibur line. Some of the best, legal cigars, I have had are hand-rolled in Tampa when I visit there, in the Ybor City district, it was once the cigar capital of the world, they still know how to make a great cigar. If you want to impress I guess you could go with the Fuente Fuente Opus X, if you can find authentic ones.

I always got arturo fuentes and something else. I also just asked the guy at the shop, he is the expert, usually came out with something i liked.

Humidor is un "tuned" right now, some old dried up montecristo and a gold label macanudo sitting in there.

Cigar Tip: if you buy a Cigar in Vegas smoke it very soon lol. I bought two higher dollar cigars one time and took them with me, they dried up and split open in a short day lol. Probably the same in Phoenix.

    Gotta love Houston

I like it here. I would say Houston is definitely the place I want to be while I am still working.

InMotion, do you have any experience with with the humid travel tubes?

Hey - every cigar is different... but for the not accustomed, or the accustomed, I really like the Guillermo Leon signature series. They are reasonable and very, very tasty. They also look the part, a unique wrapper. They are made by La Aurora, however are much more exclusive and delicious in my opinion.

Cigars are a bit of a hobby of mine. Have fun overseas (and golfing!)!
